GUN OWNERS NOT IMPRESSED WITH KERRY'S GOOSE HUNT [10/22 03:01 PM]
I realize the listeners and visitors to NRANews.com are not necessarily a representative sample of gun owners. But they probably are a good chunk of the folks for whom the gun issue is vital.
And their reaction to Kerrys hunting trip? Laughter, mostly. In particular, Kerrys not carrying his own goose struck real hunters as a particularly non-hunterly.
It strikes them as a squeamish refusal to actually touch the dead duck
Roger that, 45Auto ~ JF'nK is a big phony ~ Bump!
Did anyone check to see if kerry actually had the Ohio non-resident waterfowl stamp?
It was brought up previously that while got the federal steamp ($15) and the Ohio non-resident hunting license ($125), he should also have gotten the Ohio non-res waterfowl stamp (another $15).
I'm glad someone here besides myself watches cartoons.
Who's the guy trailing just behind him? His butler?
What makes anybody think that the Secret Service would let anyone get near Kerry with a loaded gun? Only Kerry's gun was loaded and the other guys were in the crosshairs of other agents in case someone decided to take it away from him.
The Secret Service simply would not allow this kind of risk and they were no doubt greatly annoyed at having to set up this silly photo op.
And the "sacrificial geese" ended up in the nearest dumpster.
In this case it world be his "Bearer".
When the elite go on Safari they have "bearers". Ex: Gun Bearers, in this case "a game bearer".
Surely this will go down in history as the "Great Goose Hunting Safari of Ohio" and you may now call sKerry, "Bwana". The Great White Hunter.
Hey -- Growing up it was Bugs Bunny, and the Yankees.
Some things never change...
Heck! Me too. Cartoons are fun. Welcome to the club. lol
Heck here it is:
DU Maintains Political Neutrality in Presidential Race
We are aware that U.S. Senator John Kerry hunted Canada geese in Ohio earlier today (October 21, 2004). Press reports show that the Senator was wearing a Ducks Unlimited hat and that he was hunting with a local Ducks Unlimited member and supporter.
Ducks Unlimited is a non-partisan organization. DU has no affiliation with any political party, nor do we endorse any political candidate. However, it should be recognized that in support of our wildlife habitat conservation work, the Ducks Unlimited logo is branded on many products, including hats, jackets, and other clothing.
One gentleman on the trip was misidentified as a local Ducks Unlimited "board" member. He is not a member of Ducks Unlimited's board of directors. No one was there to represent Ducks Unlimited in any way during the hunting trip. Ducks Unlimited has 1 million members and supporters who also have a variety of political affiliations.

In my hunting days (on the Great South Bay, LI) the only time to bag geese was dawn and twilight when they made their daily round trip to the main island from the flats. Coming back with the limit in a short time frame was very possible.
Ping to post #14...

Too little, too late...unfortunately for them, I have also emailed my associates and friends.
My donations to them are history.
Exactly!
John
Thanks
Exactly. This has to be judged by how well it snookers the non-hunting, non-FR-watching voters. It's pure PR. "I'm macho, but I don't looooooooove to hunt."
Nor his slacks, nor his shirt and tie (under the camoJ, zipped up). Pretty clean for a guy who says he hunts climbing on his stomach. (oh, that was just how he snuck up on the wounded vietcong teenager and shot him in the back). Yeah, geese can be hunted standing up when you don't have time to change clothes.
He just got off the plane, was driven there were the press was waiting, and with all the zeal and calamity of Hollywood, set up the photo shoot.
The gun he uses is what is used in Europe for the 'elite' to do skeet shooting. Off boats.
You're welcome.
(BTW, are you the FReeper I "stole" the graphic from?)
Thanks for the ping beaversmom.
