To: info@peta.org Subject: Future presidential animal killer?

I want to know if PETA plans to issue a statement denouncing John Kerry's slaughter of the geese that is being paraded all over the news and internet like some kind of great heroic event? I think it is hideous.

=============================================

RESPONSE:

Thank you for contacting PETA about political candidates who engage in blood sports. Please understand that PETA certainly opposes any activity which causes intentional harm to animals, including hunting and fishing.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, educational organization, PETA is prohibited from participating in any political campaigns or endorsing a particular candidate or party. However, we encourage you to contact the candidate or party that you are interested in directly; ask the party representatives for their position on animal rights, and tell the candidate that animal rights issues will influence your vote.

To learn a candidate's position on a comprehensive list of issues, including animal protection, please contact Project Vote Smart at 1-888-VOTE-SMART or http://www.vote-smart.org (be sure to include the hyphen).

PETA's "Guide to Letter-Writing" (http://www.peta.org/alert/guide.html) offers helpful tips for writing to elected officials.

To learn more about ways to combat cruelty to animals as "sport," please see the following sites:

Thanks again for writing and for everything you do for animals!

Sincerely,

***Basically I wanted to see how they would handle my email seeing that they denounce anyone for any slight infraction, but I bet they will not release a statement on John Kerry. CONTACT PETA AND GET THEM TO DO THIS!

Read some great commentary from Ohio gun owners about Kerry's photo op with the dead goose.

They know he doesn't really mean it - they understand that pretense is the means to what they consider a justified end.

Kerry got a big fat goose, and didn't need a bullet -
"Better to sleep with a crazy rich hen," says Johnny, "than to pullet."

Oh, but if he wore a full-length mink coat, I bet they'd have something to say.

Why PETA?
From what i see of the photo opp, he's breaking federal migratory bird laws.
It's illegal to give your birds to anyone while in the field, even to carry out. When i was a guide in tx, i loaded up my hunters birds on my 4 wheeler to take them back to the truck. When i arrived, so did the game warden. He wrote me a ticket for 450 dollars and my hunters a ticket for 250. We fought them in court and lost.
If you give your bird to someone else, proper transfer documentation must be filled out.
Hope this helps.

http://www.peta.org/about/contact.asp Lists all the mail; and email addresses World Wide. Perhaps we can get the Brits to complain to their American cousins about Kerry. He needlessly and callously killed a goose. He doesn't need the animal for food, he can buy better. How Terrible! Please contact Please Eat The Animals immediately.

Even India has a PETA outlet! No wonder there are so many cows walking around.

PETA or not, sKerry can't do anything right. He's got all sides against him in the goose fiasco.

And a purple suede hat with a cheetah-print hatband. Oh, and a cane with a pearl-inlaid knob on top...The perfect outfit for when he's pimping stem cell research.

Great idea! I just sent this:

To whom it may concern:

John Kerry was all over the news the other night, acting like a war hero because he shot a goose. The only way this photo op could have been more disgusting was if he’d used an M-16 to slaughter the bird, and then burned down a village to celebrate. I have not seen or heard any PETA comment on this silly exploitation, and I wonder why you apparently have time to go after the Green Bay Packers for having a certain name, but you don’t have time to ask John Kerry to hold off on actual killing.

So…are you going to remain silent, and if so, why in the world would you lay down for either political party like that?

Exactly...Leftists, practicing realpolitik to the bitter end...in an ever-worsening downward spiral...

Sad that kerry goes out and shoots geese just for a publicity stunt. You don't see President Bush running around shooting animals. (Aside from sending our military against the animal terrorists, which is where the real force should be used in the first place!)

I really do think it is wrong to do what he did, for a photo op.. and I think its wrong to hunt and kill animals if you are not going to eat them, just for the sport of it..
Im no PETA person, but I sure think its a sad comment on folks that kill animals for NO REASON, other than to just kill them......

I'm trying to figure out how he managed to get the HSUS endorsement. I guess since he has it already he figures it's ok now to go out and try and get the endorsement of the Ducks Unlimited crowd.

What a loser. "I can't carry it myself, I'm too wiped out from watching the Red Sox" Pullleeeeaaassse! Try tracking a deer for four hours in the dark in the rain and snow and then dragging it out of the woods with someone! Loser.

He just doesn't have time. I'm sure he does on occasion, and actually *does* it.

You could also point out that Kerry has probably consumed WAY more foie gras than Bush. They get all amped over foie gras.

(BTW, the cruelty is overhyped - the geese actually come running to the feeding tubes, so they're like Americans and super-size fries...)

NO animals were harmed in the making of this photo op. They were all killed beforehand.
