ST. PAUL - Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
The announcement was made during a 30-minute news conference at the State Office Building. The former Minnesota was there, but did not make any comments.
Just days ago, Ventura had said that he did not plan to support Kerry or President Bush this election year.
Also at the news conference was former Maine Gov. Angus King, who was the only other third-party governor during Ventura's years in office. He said Ventura changed his mind and decided to endorse Kerry.
Organizers didn't even know Ventura was going to show up until the news conference started. He told reporters who followed him out to his car afterward that he'll be doing interviews in Los Angeles.

I have driven past his residence. He does have a large "Support the Troops" sign on the security gate (good), but he also has a day-glo green sign saying "Ventura Highway" (narsisistic) nailed to a tree on the driveway.

What a ringer of an endorsement. Didn't say a word in St. Paul, but says he'll comment in Los Angeles?
Is that offensive to Minnesotans, or what? Can you say, "backfire?"

Thanks for your very kind comments, SierraWasp. I'm hoping Arnold doesn't bother to run again. He opportunistically jumped into the recall because he knew it would be an easy campaign. No primary, so he didn't have to try to woo Republican voters all that much. Maybe the prospect of facing a primary might deter him from running again.

"I ain't got time to bleed!" It's funny how sometimes we can equate characters in a movie to how people are in real life. They're not, of course, as this endorsement clearly demonstrates. It's just hard to imagine ultra he-man Blaine voting for a pansy like Effin.

When I first glanced at it, I thought that he was dressed up for some kind of civil war re-enactment. Really, the beard looks fake.

MN had buyers remorse with him in less than 6 months after he was elected. He had a "less government" mantra that went as far as the mantra. He was all show and MN fell for it.
