Your welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Happy Birthday
Because of a minor infraction, a shipmate of mine aboard the USS Reeves, bound for Japan, was busted one rank, fined and given extra duty for three weeks.
Looking forward to celebrating his 21st birthday on July 22, he consoled himself every night during his extra duty by reciting, "They can bust me, they can fine me -- but they can't take away my birthday."
As July 2 approached, his excitement increased. When he went to bed on July 21, he happily repeated, "They can bust me, they can fine me -- but they can't take away my birthday."
The next morning, he found out that the ship had crossed the international date line -- and it was July 23.

Hope you'll are having a nice weekend.
Scans additions to thread since Thursday participation, and reads Dubya's reply # 62 about the fellow who crossed the International Dateline and missed a day -- seizes that as her excuse...musta slept through it..:))
This afternoon I viewed on C-Span The President's appearance in Melbourne, Florida, where I lived from ages 9 through 18 - 23 through 27 - and 35 through 38.
From a very small town during WWII with one school for ALL school children west to the St. John's River, and between the Sebastian River on the south end of Brevard County (the one with Cape Canaveeal/NASA Space Program i) and HALFWAY TO COCOA, it now is a an unrecognizable sprawling metropolis without end.
It was a thrill to see the large crowd at the stadium where his helicopter landed and where he spoke, wonderfully cheering and supportive, as are ALL those who see him in person...and his genuine connection with each one.
If you watch it later on C-span, do look for afterward when he was working the crowd, and Laura did also.
She went along the metal fence line, talking with persons and signing things, and then did something special -- the ones who set up the appearance wore distinctive t-shirts, orange, with EVENT VOLUNTEER on the back, and she stopped in front of a group of teenege volunteers and signed the back of their shirts!
It was a lovely spontaneous thank you for the younger generation, and I'm sure scored many points ---
Watching it made me so proud of the life I have had, and values instilled in me from humble beginnings.
Isn't Our America wonderful/?!!
**LadyX cheers from the old hometown field:
"GO, George, GO!!"
LOLOL...
(Maybe you can use this in Florida next week, Julie!)
So nice to see you this evening LadyX! I think I've missed most of today!! Hope you are doing ok.

I've had that feeling lately.
And I'm not even half done yet.
I've had that feeling lately. And I'm not even half done yet.
I agree. I am only 24 (25 next month) and I feel like the values I was taught as a child no longer exist. I would kind of expect that if I were older, but when I can't relate to people that are less than 10 years younger than me, something must have gone wrong somewhere.
I often find myself daydreaming of the days when community meant pulling together to help someone out. Or having a town picnic on the square to celebrate summer. I've never lived that way, but I think I was born in the wrong era because I long for those things!
Yes it is very cute.
Great Banner.
Great graphic, and so true!
Patriotism was ingrained in me as a grade school child, when literally everything lived was for the War Effort - no exceptions...no dissent...tremendous pride in what your relative or friend or neighbor was doing for it.
Makes it so hard for our generation to look at the spoiled and corrupted younger ones who are on the verge of prevailing at America's helm if the tide is not soon turned...
You've no idea how much we appreciate those like you and your husband and so many Freeper Family Members who are receiving the torches and holding them high!!
Be sure to check it out, everyone!
{{{ Hugs }}} for my 'dopted son, humblegunner, whose two teenage sons are among the hope of tomorrow, thanks to his guidance...:))
Maybe the few "good seeds" that are left in my generation can grow tall and strong someday.
Thank you for your constant encouragement! You have been a blessing to me during these long days of waiting.
I'm going to excuse myself and go curl up with a good book under the flannel sheets I finally put on my bed! Have a good night.
Great message, The Mayor, and accordingly, I hereby publicly redouble my words and songs of praise for Our Father and His loving responses.
A heartfelt "Thank You" to all who have given prayers for my 16-year old grandson, Christopher.
My son called today to report Christopher is home from the hospital, and they think the terrible bacterial infection (pseudomona aeruginosa) has not spread to other areas from his spine.
He is given IV infusions every few hours by one parent or the other, spelled some by Susan's parents who live in the area.
Around Thanksgiving, if all continues to go well, they will see if he can stop the antibiotic and return to school.
In the meantime, he is free to go out to eat, shop (went to a football game) without restriction, and certainly is happy to be able to be close to friends.
When they started the medication in the hospital, he reacted badly to it, unable to eat and vomiting, and lost down to 106 pounds, and they are working hard to make up the loss.
They have many praying friends and neighbors, and belong to a church in West Palm Beach where Kevin and Susan both teach teenage classes, and has a large congregation, all praying for Christopher.
God heard their prayers, and YOURS, Freepers, and is bestowing His healing power!!
My gratitude to Him, and to you, knows no bounds - - -
Praise the Lord. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for another answer to prayer.
