LAHORE, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistani intelligence agencies have arrested two suspected al Qaeda members in separate raids in Peshawar and Lahore, the nation's information minister has said. In Peshawar, the raid of a house netted Abdul Rehman, described by Pakistani intelligence as a "foreigner," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said. Rehman, who was known as "Electronic" within al Qaeda, was also wanted by U.S. intelligence, Ahmed said. The second al Qaeda suspect -- a Yemeni man -- was arrested in Lahore late Wednesday. Intelligence tracked him as he traveled from Wana, near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, through Islamabad and on to Lahore. Ahmed said he was planning to return to Yemen through the Arabian Sea. Without giving details, Pakistani intelligence said he was carrying some important documents with him.

That's one way to describe an Iraqi citizen born in Indiana.
I do believe we've captured Abdul Rahman Yasin, folks.
Happy October.
The latest poll results? Right before capture he was overheard mumbling to himself, "Oh crap, oh crap."
Excellent.
I hope these docs nail down the locations of any remaining leaders of AQ.
If this is Abdul Rahman Yasin, those docs could do a lot more than that.
Also keep in mind, if this is Yasin, he's already been convicted in the United States for his role in the '93 WTC bombing. Once his identity is confirmed, he'll be extradited.
When/If that happens, the story will explode... and the MSM will be powerless to stop it.
Jar my memory... does Pakistan have an extradition treaty with the US? My concern is that Islamic society/law prevents that.
Ramzi Yousef was also captured in Pakistan and extradited to the U.S.
Thanks.
I'd love to see the top levels of AQ leadership treated with the very same courtesy.
USA Today: Iraq Sheltered suspect in '93 WTC Attack
Senator Schumer's Letter to FBI Mueller asking for Priority in Locating Yasin ... (includes mention of offer from Baghdad to hand him over, and that Yasin's 93 attack was the model for 9/11)
CBS News: The Man Who Got Away
Yasin, who was indicted in the bombing but escaped, was interviewed by CBS News' Lesley Stahl in an Iraqi installation near Baghdad last Thursday, May 23.

*ping*
Let's not forget, Yasin's co-conspirator Ramzi Yousef is also 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed's nephew.
Color me bad but since I never watch CBS, I missed this:
Abdul Rahman Yasin is the only participant in the first attempt to blow up the World Trade Center in 1993 who was never caught. Yasin, who was indicted in the bombing but escaped, was interviewed by CBS News' Lesley Stahl in an Iraqi installation near Baghdad last Thursday, May 23. Stahl's report appeared on 60 Minutes, Sunday June 2nd.
Lesley Stahl interviewed this guy instead of turning him into the CIA? CBS and terrorists - a proud brotherhood of anti-Americanism. I hate CBS even more now, if possible.
Very interesting.
Hardcover - (September 2004) - $27.95 In this tour de force on the most important issue of our time, David Horowitz, confronts the paradox of how so many Americans, including the leadership of the Democratic Party, could turn against the War on Terror. He finds an answer in a political Left that shares a view of America as the Great Satan with Americas radical Islamic enemies. In a remarkable exploration of the Mind of the Left, Horowitz traces the evolution of American radicalism from its Communist past to its anti-war present. He then shows how this Left was able to turn the Democratic Party presidential campaign around and reshape its views on the War on Terror. |
Perhaps every network has a terrorist connection:
CBS - Abdul Rahman Yasin
ABC - Usama Bin Laden
NBC - Saddam Hussein ( a la Peter Arnette... or is that ALLAH Peter Arnette?)
Thanks for the reminder - adding to my wishlist.
This may be a biggie.
Nice list!
Yep.. the whole story, summarized, is here:
Excerpt:
Another intriguing detail unmentioned by the AP: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is Ramzi Yousef's uncle........"Military, intelligence and law enforcement officials reported finding a large cache of Arabic-language documents in Tikrit, Saddam's political stronghold. A U.S. intelligence official ... said some [U.S. intelligence] analysts have concluded that the documents show that Saddam's government provided monthly payments and a home for Yasin."
I just hope this is the SAME Abdul Rahman YASIN and this guy is really brought to justice.
