October 19, 2004 -- Ronald Reagan's daughter is suing the Salvation Army, charging it canceled her lucrative speaking gig because of her outspoken support of stem-cell research. In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Patti Davis says the Salvation Army's cancellation of her $15,000 speaking engagement because of her moral beliefs is "a wanton, willful and malicious act."
"It was obviously very upsetting to her," said Davis' lawyer, Lawrence Fabian.
Mike Watters, the lawyer for the local California Salvation Army chapter that had planned the event, denied the charge. He said his clients decided not to hire Davis after seeing a videotape of one of her speeches. "They just decided she wasn't their cup of tea," he said.
He added his clients didn't breach their contract with Davis because they never signed one.

There was no contract, there is nothing to sue over.
Regan was the best president the world has ever seen.
But WTF happened with his kids? Did Nancy drop them?!
Donald Regan was Secretary of the Treasury during Ronald Reagan's first term and Chief of Staff during most of the second term.
Are you confusing Donald Regan with Ronald Reagan?
To hear the liberals spin it, that is just like a "Reagan" to steal from the poor.
So it's late and I forgot an "a", get over it.
How about you give a useful comment.
SA sure ain't poor: my auntie used to host fundraising shindigs and do all kinds of charity work for the local chapter. Economically hanging on by her nails, she got pretty miffed when she found out the 'Captain', or whatever he was called (they were close buds for a couple years), whe gratefully accepted the money and services she offered (at great sacrifice) was pulling in a salary of over $100,000 for himself. That was in the mid 1970's. Wonder what they're makin' now?
The SA operates on behalf of "the poor" and does some good for them. They are a non-profit organization; I am aware of some resale shops that portray themselves as charities but are really for-profit businesses.
I do agree that many charities consume a lot of contribution dollars as internal operating "expenses" (salaries) and to further fundraising efforts. At the worst of that spectrum you will find charities that spend over 50% of the money received just trying to get more money.
It's times like these when I appreciate Michael Reagan more and more. Adoption is a wonderful thing.
Patti and Ron work as hard as they can to trash any hint of dignity they can connected to their fathers name...
they are a disgrace to the human race, and a waste of being able to breathe fresh air....
she looks like a hag, and he looks like a hags sister...
She's a Puke, and unworthy of that noble man's name.
Kinda remind me of the faith healers with the Caddies, tour buses, and diamond pinky rings: "Would Jesus drive a Yugo?"
United Way is a more prominent example of a "charity" that skimmed off the top for some nice perks.
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) exists these days largely to draw more funds.
re your tag line, its spelled "Alan Keyes".

Worth repeating.
Reagan was an accomplished president who obviously didn't carve out enough time to raise his kids, and Nancy has never impressed me in any way. Both of them came from troubled homes themselves.
I liked what Joe Scarborough said to Ron after Ron semi-defended Kerry's "lesbian daughter" indiscretion on MSBC following the last debate. Scarborough said something like "What if someone said the president's son was doing drugs and ballet?" Ron was so angry he probably would have given him a limp-wristed slap had Scarborough been on the set.
Gotta wonder who got to the Reagan kids. Suing charities is a new kind of low.
