Resigning in the midst of an election!
No doubt the pressure from Corrine, Jesse, and gang has been too hot!
Duval County Supervisor of Elections resigns
From Florida Times-Union
Early voting began today and with 500,000 voters, Duval County is the largest county in the state with only one site. The situation has added criticism over the foresight and planning by the office, which is already weathering renewed skepticism about 27,000 votes rejected in the 2000 election, many of which were in highly Democratic black neighborhoods.
Jesse "Sperminator" Jackson proposed Bozo the Clown to take the guy's place!
Didn't he already give in and agree to provide 4 more days for registration (and free buses from minority districts to the Supervisor of Elections' office for early voting)?
No doubt, he was to be in town 'today' for a noon rally!
Yes, they agreed to both. But a Dem given an inch will take a mile. Corrine Brown has been pushing for Jeb to fire him...trying to find the article about that right now.
Dang, I saw this headline and thought we were in a time warp to Duval County, Texas, 1938 when a bunch of folks from cemetaries got LBJ elected.
so does this mean we'll have MORE dead people voting Democrat or LESS?
I'll post links with a date, can't post full text from Jacksonville.com

Black ministers enter into the equation
Duval County Supervisor Of Elections Resigning
10/18/2004 noon update
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- John Stafford, Duval County's Supervisor Of Elections, has sent a letter to the Governor saying he was resigning for medical reasons effective today.
Stafford suffered a heart attack in March. He's been in and out of the hospital since.
Stafford was elected as the Supervisor of Elections in 1999. Before that he spent 6 years as Assistant Supervisor of Elections.
Thanks for the links...I knew this one bore the fingerprints of the "black ministers" (another name for the Kerry campaign). I wonder what happens to a black minister who is conservative? I guess he doesn't count -
Oh my gosh! Sorry, I didn't want to alter the headline in case someone else searched for it with intent to post.
You'd think we were in the that era the way it's being spun.
There is too much racism being injected into all of this.
More!
A black minister who is conservative is a step'an'fetch'it uncle tom.. not an exciteing role model for the future..
You know what? I just thought of this.
Stafford is out! Done deal!
After the election there will be complaints that Carlberg was not qualified for the job and it's all his fault (whatever comes down the pike related to the election!)
One begins to wonder if there will ever be an end to it.
~chuckling~
No, you were right, you shouldn't alter the headline!
My Grama was one of those who always said, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." I have to see the humor of the county names in this. Sick and wrong as the voting procedure is, my raising in Texas with the legacy of Duval County 1938 made me sit up and take notice when I read that headline.
My prayers to out to all those Florida, Duval County Republicans. Stand firm folks.
I know a couple of those here in Texas. I've got highest regards for 'em too. They don't mind speaking up and telling folks exactly how the cow ate the cabbage. Fine folks. I'm not black, but I'd sure sit in a church and listen to their "step'an'fetgch'it uncle tom" talk! :-)
You know what I'm talking about! :-)
Oh, that's right, like the lady in Ohio who was paying in crack cocaine for falsified voter registrations...
