I am astonished that Reuters would permit themselves to
report this.

Perhaps they think it advances the Reuters agenda
by providing evidence that bin Laden is still alive.

Do they not realize that it:
a. cements the Irag-al Qaeda connection, and
b. proves that attracting the alQ flies to Iraq is brilliant

Technically this may be breaking news, but I think we all assumed this anyway.

Translation: Bin Laden is dead, and Zawahiri and I are fighting over control of al-Qaeda. He controls the old operational network, but all of the new recruits come to me in Iraq. So, in order to legitimize myself, I'm going to claim that I'm the one who really is the inheritor of Osama's legacy.

http://www.globalterroralert.com/zarqawi-bayat.pdf

Globalterroralert.com (10/17/04):
Abu Maysarah al-Iraqi, official media representative of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's Tawheed wal-Jihad Movement in Iraq has released a new statement on behalf of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. According to the document, after 8 months of tense and prolonged negotiations, Zarqawi and his loyal fighters in central Iraq have sworn an oath and officially joined "under the banner" of Usama Bin Laden and Al-Qaida. Speculation has been rampant since Zarqawi first emerged in media reports over his relationship with Bin Laden and Al-Qaida. It is significant to note that many of Zarqawi's top lieutenants have been trained in Al-Qaida military camps in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the Caucasus, and elsewhere.

Perhaps he is one of the international leaders also pledged to Jane F. Kerry.

Does that mean Zarqawi now worships the dead, as opposed to Allah?

Zarqawi: "I pledge allegiance to the Fag Bin Laden's attack on America, and to the Al Quaeda for which we stand with tyranny and terror for all".

1. If they are Muslims, they are forbidden to pledge allegiance to anyone but Allah.

2.BinLaden claims to be a prophet, and Mo said he was the last prophet.

3.Binny babe is buried in Bora Bora surrounded by the Afghan warlord's troops to whom the job was outsourced.

fwiw, I agree that this is a ploy to attract support both from overseas and locally, because he's just about to become something requiring a wet-vac cleanup.

This is news?

That's like announcing that Castro pledged allegiance to Marx. Who the hell cares; we're going to kill the lot of them anyway, no matter how many allegiances they pledge or in what direction.

(Of curse, I'm sure if Zarqawi gets thrown in jail and finds Christianity under his bed and then pledges allegiance to *that*, there will be scores of people lining up to forgive him for all of his beheadings...)

So if the CIA puts a phone number listing for bin Laden in the Pakistan directory, Zarqawi will call?

Or

if bin Laden calls -- Zarqawi will answer? --- boom.

Either will do :-}

What was that again from the Democrats about Al Qaeda NOT being in Iraq?? They've been there for years.

We're not allowed to pledge allegiance to our flag any more, but it's ok for the headlines to trumpet Zarqawi pledging allegiance to a guy he's been working for for years. Cute.

Ahmm-m
I wonder - and hope I am the "wrongest" I've ever been in my life...
but this smells like a strategy to give Bin Laden credit for some imminant horror they have planned...
credit whether he's dust of not.

I hope he didn't include "under God" in that Pledge Of Allegience, or else the Dems will HATE him.
