Michael Moore profiting off my husbands blood

Posted on 10/16/2004 12:12:24 PM PDT by Cee-gar Man US Marine

My husband's bloody image was used on Fahrenheit 911 on scene 22 on the DVD. Michael Moore took this very personal tragedy and used it without a care about our family having to see this awful image captured on film. I bet he doesn't even know that this Marine survived and still proudly serves his country. This movie is against everything my husband believes in. He has pride in his country and despite his disability, he has no regrets in his service to our Nation. He is truly an inspiration to all who meet him. He will continue to serve just as long as he is allowed to. The footage of my husband is pretty graphic, It's amazing he survived. Ironically it was the body armour that saved his life, the body armour that Kerry voted against. He lost his right eye, hearing in his right ear, loss of sense of smell and is legally blind in his left eye. He says "Our country is still at war and I will not leave the military without a fight." I don't think this is what Michael Moore was expecting to hear from this bloody injured Marine he used for quite the opposite effect. Kerry like Moore also used this same footage of my husband. He used it and implied that he knew the father of this injured serviceman and that the father told him he did not want his son to go to war. I can't believe that the two people that we despise the most, happen to be the two people who used the blood of my husband for their own benifit. April wife of Cee-gar Marine

It never ceases to amaze me the depths to which Michael Moore will sink. His version of events will not survive. The sacrifices that you and your husband have made will be remembered and honored long after Michael Moore has faded from the scene. As an American, I thank you and your marine.

April,
After all you, Nick, and your family have been through, I'm furious that you are all being exploited by these loathsome creatures!
This needs some media attention.
God Bless Gunny and his wonderful family.
Praying for our troops!

'Cigar Marine' gets hero's homecoming
Hammond native returns to region from Iraq

BY SUSAN ERLER Times Staff Writer

HIGHLAND -- The war in Iraq took his right eye, nearly deafened his right ear and left scars, now nearly healed, on his otherwise smooth face.

No matter.

Marine Gunnery Sgt. Nick Popaditch would go back in a heartbeat, he said Sunday.

"I plan to go back once I get able to see the bad guy," said Popaditch at an emotional homecoming thrown by family and friends at American Legion Memorial Post 180.

Popaditch, who grew up in Hammond before moving to Terre Haute in his late teens, returned to the U.S. more than a month ago. His wife and children remain in Twentynine Palms, Calif., where Popaditch is stationed.

A rocket-propelled grenade, fired from a rooftop into the hatch of the tank Popaditch commanded, blew up in his face April 7 in Fallujah, Iraq.

The attack came a year to the day from when an Associated Press photographer captured a smiling Popaditch smoking a cigar, with the just fallen statue of Saddam Hussein in the background.

The photograph ended up on newspaper front pages, winning Popaditch worldwide attention as the "Cigar Marine."

"That was a great day," he said. "It felt like the tide had turned."

His feelings about the war, and America's involvement in it, haven't changed, he said.

"I believe in it 100 percent," he said. "The Iraqi people were living under a dictator. Everybody should have the right to be free."

The majority of Iraqi people want the U.S. there, Popaditch said.

Soon, surgeons in the U.S. will implant an artificial eye to replace the one destroyed by the grenade, and restore some of his diminished hearing with a hearing aid.

But on Sunday, Popaditch stood tall and strong, a black patch slung over the right side of his face.

His homecoming party, coming as America commemorated the D-Day invasion 60 years ago, was especially significant, he said.

"But the focus today should be the Americans who've fought in the past," he said. "This is the most incredible welcome home."

Marine in 'Fall of Baghdad' Photo Injured

INDIANAPOLIS - A Marine from Indiana whose smiling, cigar-smoking image helped symbolize the fall of Baghdad a year ago suffered severe head injuries in fighting this week in the besieged Iraqi city of Fallujah.

AP Photo

Gunnery Sgt. Nick Popaditch, 36, of Terre Haute, marked Friday's one-year anniversary of the fall at a U.S. military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Surgeons removed a piece of shrapnel that lodged near his optic nerve when a rocket-propelled grenade slammed into his tank Tuesday in Fallujah, his wife said Friday.

"He had to have his right eye removed. He's very concerned about that," April Popaditch said from Twentynine Palms, Calif., where her husband is based.

She said they spoke for 45 minutes after his surgery ended.

"I cried to him like anyone would to their loved one. Everything just came out," she said.

She said she told him, "I thank God that you have your two arms and two legs. I thank God for the wonderful Marines who were right around your tank to get you off to safety."

The two, who were married 13 years ago Thursday, also exchanged anniversary greetings. They wed a few days after Nick Popaditch returned from his first tour of duty in Iraq (news - web sites) during the 1991 Persian Gulf War (news - web sites), and now have a 10-year-old son.

April Popaditch spent their wedding anniversary a year ago watching video footage of her husband's tank in Baghdad. An Associated Press photograph captured him smiling and holding a cigar in his hand with a statue of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) looming in the background shortly before it was toppled.

His company finished its Iraq tour last year, but he joined another company that left for the region at the end of February, April Popaditch said. It was sent to Fallujah, where four Americans were killed and mutilated last week. Fighting this week in Fallujah has killed four Marines and more than 280 Iraqis.

"He is one of those Marines who has his hand raised anytime there's something overseas," April Popaditch said. "He says he goes for the people we lost on September 11."

Popaditch probably will be moved to a hospital in the United States within a few days, said Maj. Daniel Smith, executive officer of the 1st Tank Battalion based in Twentynine Palms. Losing an eye will end Popaditch's tank career, Smith said.

"He's been in the tanks enough, so he will be fine with that," April Popaditch said, but she added she hopes her husband can continue in the service.

I did not know whether I should post this story. It's sad. But..

What an incredible hero.

Quite often, I feel totally unworthy being defended by such giants among men.

God bless him!

Thank you from Cee-gar man and family

We thank you for your warmth and prayers. I read the web site with all the wonderful people that have thought of us. We are truly blessed.

Nick had surgery a week ago to remove shrapnel from the bottom of his surviving eye, that was narrowly missed. I read him all the comments on this site before he went to sleep, he went to sleep a very happy man with a smile on his face.

You will often hear him say he feels like George Bailey from the movie, It's a Wonderful Life. Reading all of this reminds us of the part where you can hear all the towns prayers from the heavens in the very beginning of the movie.

He is thankful for life and will travel down the path that God has chosen for him, without questioning it. I am truly a very lucky lady to have such a wonderful man as my husband and our son could not have a better man to be his father.

In the first hours of uncertainty, I prayed that he would remain here on earth to finish his mission in life..to inspire and give strength to others. He has started that mission almost immediately back in Iraq when he was still laying on the gurney and yelled out a Ooh Rah. His mission has just begun.

I am typing this thank you for him, his eyesight in his good eye is still a little blurred. He was very honored that you all have said such wonderful things about him. He tells me that the people like you are what drives him to proudly serve this wonderful country of ours, you make sacrafice worth it.

Thank you all so very much, from the Cee-gar Man and family

Sue him. Figure out a way to sue him. Band together with all the people in F 911 who were manipulated and made to lie on film--who were USED to present a message they never would have approved--and sue the bastard. Class action.

Maybe some Freeper lawyers could help you with this. That movie's going to make $250 million or more worldwide before it's done...go for some of it. It'll be a lesson for Fatboy, and some sweet revenge to boot. And it will send a strong message to all the future Fatboys in the pipeline: Be responsible, or it will cost you.

As for lawyers. Whenever you lay out your case and the lawyer says, Yes, but there's no case, politely excuse yourself--and go onto the next lawyer! I have been involved with a handful of ultimately successful cases over the years, and in every case, the first lawyer (maybe the first three), said, Oh, there's no case here. There is almost always a case there if the lawyer is motivated and creative. Remember: This is American, where anybody can sue anybody for anything.

Sue the bastard.
