Senator Kerry's mention of the vice president's daughter, in answering a question about homosexuality in America, threatens to break the momentum he has established in recent weeks.
President Bush's most conservative supporters invoked one phrase yesterday to describe Mr. Kerry's mention of Vice President Cheney's lesbian daughter during the last presidential debate: Low blow. And the vice president agreed.

I think the kerry momentum had run out before he rudely mentioned Mary Cheney's name
My hope is that the loathsome Kerry/Edwards campaign will suffer dire consequences for their remarks about Mary Cheney, among the litany of other wrongs they do and represent.
The half baked answer to marrying a strong woman was the true flop by Kerry. He tried to say in a nice way that he was the gigolo that we have said he was and it was clear that he is a user. Then he went on to talk about mom.
This sent a strong message to all married women that he is not sincere and trustworthy and the last thing any married woman wants to hear about is her husband talking about his mother.
It's surprising that there hasn't been more about this. The answer to that question was a blunder and alienated many undecided women voters. It was almost the equivalent to the Dukakis "Ice Man" answer to Bernie Shaw about his wife.
I agree, Kerry's "momentum" if he ever had it lasted until the second debate. This flap is so stupid on their part? People don't vote on VPs. People are not generally going to vote on VP's daughters unless you do something really cheap to turn them voters against you trying to use a VP's daughter.
I believe the British might say of Kerry, "he is too clever by half."
How does that site work? I went there, but there are no instructions.
Pat Cadell had an interesting take on this:
It was directed at preventing the socially conservative democrats in the hard core base, Blacks and Hispanics, from staying home. He suggested the Dems are totally panicked over this, especially in Ohio and Missouri, which is why they sent out Kerry, Sharpton and Jesse to Black churches to tell them to ignore the gay marriage issue because it doesn't directly concern them.
This is the sleeper issue of the campaign. This is not a wedge issue, and the Dems know it. Every time the gay marriage issue comes up, it is roundly defeated with more than 70% voting against.
Pat Cadell is one smart Dem, and an honest one to boot, and one of the smartest people in his party. The Democrat party left him, along with Zell Miller, Ed Koch, and yes, Joe Lieberman.
I'm with you, can't figure it out!
JFK made the only real gaffes in the debates with his "global test" and "lesbian" comments.
That's what people are still talking about; his gaffes.
Well, that and his "timber company" charge where GWB responded with "want some wood"!

Right, so the Kerry's hope to get the lunch pail Dems and African-Americans to come out and vote for the more pro-homosexual marriage ticket?
"John Kerry says he is for gay Rights and is in favor of a woman's right to privacy. Just ask Mary Cheney"
sKerry is nothing but a "sniper" without that what has he got? NOTHING, he has criticized Bush on everything he can & nothing has worked.
Didn't work for me.
