(VANITY) Lack of Interest in Bill O'Reilly Scandal?

Posted on 10/15/2004 9:52:56 PM PDT by Jenya

Is it me or is there a lack of interest in the Bill O'Reilly drama here on FR? I see news articles, but not nearly as many as, say, Kerry's remark about Mary Cheney.

My thinking is that O'Reilly's attitude truly did lose him the support of those who put him on top. I don't take delight in his predicament, and I don't see a lot of others gloating over it either.

What I'm sensing is apathy. It's as if people don't really care one way or the other.

I think if O'Reilly hadn't dissed the Swiftvets, barely covered Rathergate, kissed sKerry's behind all year, etc, he would be getting support in droves here. Thoughts?

Lack of interest is because it is a complete non-story. Kerry's Mary Cheney gaffe is a big deal in the national election.

I haven't paid attention very closely, but I haven't heard that he is being of accused of anything really horrible. I read a few paragraphs and thought, yeah, so what? Maybe I'm way off and there's more to it than I know. I'm taking a wait and see attitude, but so far it is just an accusation. We don't know the real motivation behind it, we don't know how credible it is. So I give them both the benefit of the doubt.

O's non-denial denial may be many things, but pithy isn't one of them..

The only story here as far as I am concerned is the very real possibility that Mary taped this for political purposes. Reading her complaint, the President is mentioned more than once. That is suspect to me.

This is not a non-story. It's dominating the news. It may not be political, but it's news.

I was soliciting a few opinions. If you don't care to offer one, that's up to you, but don't claim it's not news.

What NutCrackerBoy, go star go and Rebel_Ace said.

No point in getting worked up about a little telephone sexcapade.

O'Reilly is a liberal who claims to be "independent" and "fair and balanced". I hope he gets lots of support from his liberal news buddies.

That's what I think too. He turned his back on his conservative base, and now that he's in hot water, they simply don't care.

I think he has suffered a loss of support from FR as we
watch him drift further an further left, and his head swell fatter and fatter over time.

O'Reilly: "The test for which candidate to vote for is to first decide which one the terrorists want for president, then vote for the other.

O'Reilly: Imagine the (Cheney) debate being broadcast into the caves of the terrorists. Which one do you thing the terrorists would be frightened of?

Frankly, my understanding is that he is a married father of two and his sexual behavior toward a young woman employee is pretty disgusting. (I'm not prejudging whether she set him up, etc). Also, I am wondering if his go easy approach to the democrats was the result of his fear they would otherwise go after him on this. Note their reaction is quite muted, whereas if it were Rush Limbaugh ...
