For Muslims, a Beleaguered Feeling

As Ramadan Begins, Many Say Sentiment Against Them Is Hardening

Many American Muslims believe that the U.S. government has contributed to the deepening of anti-Muslim sentiment by treating them more as foes than allies in the war against terrorism. They say the government has done this by singling out Muslims for special scrutiny at airports, investigating Islamic charities and detaining Muslims who eventually are found innocent of criminal activity -- all of which leads to a growing perception that the war on terrorism has become a war against Islam.

"I hear a lot of people saying that today, especially moderate Muslims, people I never thought would have this feeling," said Mohamed Magid, imam of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, a mosque in Sterling.

Echoing other Muslims, Magid said he fears that there is "some element in the [Bush] administration intent on dismantling Muslim organizations and bringing them down. . . . It's very disturbing."

The Los Angeles-based Muslims Public Affairs Council has expressed disappointment that no American Muslims were included in the drafting of the federal 9/11 Commission report, even in sections addressing the United States's relationship with the Muslim world.

The Muslim should look at themselves and ask why terrorism is allowed to hapen, like 9/11, Beslan, Madrid, Bali, etc and their role with the Nazis in World War II and after and alliance with the Soviet Union.

It's good to exterminate termites, and it's the only way to keep them from ruining your place. Surely Muslims are not termites, are they? Hmmm.

Well for crying out loud, get off your a$$es and quit being cowed by the radicals in your midst. Speak out forcefully against terrorism and tyranny, thank the U.S. for its sacrifices on behalf of many Muslim nations, stop funding madrassas with U.S. charitable contributions, clean the radicals out of your mosques. Until you do this, it's going to be very hard for most Americans to sympathize with your whiny problems about suspicion and supposed loss of rights.

Right. Has nothing to do with the beheadings, suicide bombings, school massacres, 9/11, rocket attacks on pre-schoolers, etc.

The see all this, but they cannot see the acts of Muslim extremists in the news almost daily, sawing off heads of innocent civilians on videos, shooting Russian school children in the back, etc. etc. dirtying the image of Muslims around the world.

Idiots.

I don't care. They need to do something themsleves. Churchill said years ago, there were the violent ones and the ones that did nothing about it. Still seems accurate to me.

I've seen that site before. Great site. It left out the Communist and Muslim alliance. They too share the same goals. The Nazis and Muslim alliance is more profound. I also forgot that Muslims rushed in defense of Adolf Eichmann when he was tried in Israel and they called him a martyr and hero for executing the Holocaust.

Could it be that daily beheadings and car bombings of children by their co-religionists without condemnation by local muslims leads their neighbors to distrust?

Nah.....couldn't be....

Tabasco sauce on pork rinds, yummy. Be sure to get the habanero tabasco sauce, but keep a cold glass of water near you.

Of course, the slaughter of 300 schoolchildren in Beslan and near-weekly videos of hostage beheadings have done little to influence public feelings about muslims...
