Vatican: Kerry guilty of heresy; incurrs automatic excommunication
EWTN The World Over ^ | 10/15/04

Posted on 10/15/2004 7:20:42 PM PDT by St. Johann Tetzel

Dramatic development in the fight for the Right to Life and the standing of pro-abortion Catholic politicians.

Today, in EWTN's news magazine The World Over, canon lawyer Marc Balestrieri revealed that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has certified that the Church's condemnation of abortion is part of Catholic doctrine and of natural law, and as such, any one who publicly contradicts this doctrine is guilty of heresy and incurrs an automatic excommunication.

Click here to download the Roman Congregation's response.

Earlier this year, Marc Balestrieri filed a heresy lawsuit against Senator John F. Kerry for his public and obstinate support of abortion rights. This lawsuit remains active in the tribunal of the Archdiocese of Boston. Today, Mr. Balestrieri announced in the same program that he will file new charges against the most egregious offenders, including Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), whose pro-abortion voting record is well known.

To find out more about Marc Balestrieri's efforts, to join the class-action canon lawsuits against Kerry et al. as an aggrieved party, or to contribute towards his ministry, visit his website, www.defide.org

This plays into the hands of the liberals trying to portray a stance against abortion as the religious trying to force our values upon everyone else. Being opposed to abortion, is in fact a position that would be taken by any normal and mentally stable human being. Abortion is murder when not sanctioned by law, and murder ordained when it is sanctioned by the law of the land.

A human is killed- What kind of moron can't see that?

Dear narses,

I don't think that's likely.

OSV?? Isn't that owned by the same folks who publish the National Crackhead Reporter??

Yeah, right.

Could you place this in "extended News" or some other appropriate heading. It is a groundbreaking report. Thanks!

Again, the emphasis is on "observant." Catholics who do not attend Mass regularly or who otherwise dissent from the Church are a different animal.
>>
My grandmother was a very "observant" Catholic; Confession every Saturday afternoon, Mass every Sunday morning. She saw to it that all eight grandchildren went to Catholic school. She would have rather poked her eyes out than voted for a Republican. FDR was a hero and JFK was a saint.

I'm curious about your screen name, "St. Johann Tetzel". Is this the Tetzel who sold indulgences and caused Martin Luther to nail his theses on the door of Wittenburg cathedral? I thought that Tetzel was later punished for the excesses of his selling of indulgences.

See my profile page. Though Tetzel was never canonized, I do consider him the sole saint in the whole sordid Luther affair.

They "tend" to vote Republican, but obviously don't do so universally.

I pray that this is the long awaited entrance of the Church's princes into the trenches of the culture war.

Dear bushpilot,

I doubt that any hardcore abortion lovers were going to vote for President Bush. I don't think that "falling on his [heretical, excommunicated] sword" gets Mr. Kerry even one additional vote.

But there are plenty of Catholics who are voting for Mr. Kerry, perhaps not fully realizing the total import of their vote.

This sort of thing helps drive that home.

Although Tetzel was never canonized, I do consider him the sole saint in the whole sordid Luther affair.

Did you see the film "Luther" starring Joseph Fiennes? The character of Tetzel did not come off very well in that film, or in history. Witness Tetzel's supposed comments, "The coin in the coffer rings, The soul from Purgatory springs" and something to the effect that even if a man would violate the Blessed Virgin herself, he could be freed from purgatory.

I want it public, on every front page, on every TV screen. Why keep it secret?

There is such a thing as timing. To do it right now would make it seem more of a political ploy rather than a disciplinary action by the Church.

<< I pray that this is the long awaited entrance of the Church's princes into the trenches of the culture war. >> The "Church" will try to stay out of this. The Vatican has it's political considerations and JPII is in no condition to lead a crusade. Things will have to get worse before they will take a stand (politics be damned).

As I said, see my profile page.

99% of such legends about Tetzel are complete fabrications, and even protestant scholars admit it now.

I know more angry 20-somethings (grown children) who resent being raised catholic and are now liberals just out of spite

Many 20 something catholics go through that stage .. they will come around in time

My mother use to tell my brothers, sisters and I.. You will need you faith, before your faith needs you.

She was right and we found our way back home

Your defense would miss the second part of this explanation, to wit:

Second, these Catholics are providing substantial assistance for women to obtain abortions by influencing public policy to make abortions legal, and to keep abortions legal, and to broaden access to abortion. Those who provide such substantial assistance commit a mortal sin and incur a sentence of automatic excommunication (canon 1398).

This is what I was taught and in contrast to what sinkspur has said in this thread, substantial assistance is not to be so narrowly interpreted as merely being a doctor or nurse associated with a particular procedure.
