BERLIN - German authorities said Friday they have arrested an al-Qaida suspect wanted by Spain on charges that he helped finance the terror network for years.
Mamoun Darkazanli, 46, a Syrian-German dual national, was taken into custody in Hamburg on Friday on a Spanish warrant and is being held for possible extradition, city judicial spokeswoman Sabine Westphalen told The Associated Press.

This is where Atta and the boys came from and 911 was hatched.
Kerry will be really pissed about this...it must mean that Germany is in some way fighting the war on terror that President Bush is leading.
Bush strategy of multifront war weakens rebels in Afghanistan
And elsewhere, especially in Iraq.
There's been a lot of this going on in the last few days (including a charity scam in the USA that was busted yesterday). This is more of the "nothing" that Kerry claims is being accomplished in the war against terror.
"The CIA's attempts to enlist Mamoun Darkazanli were initiated in late 1999, at a time when three of the four Hamburg students who would later pilot the hijacked planes were first learning of the hijacking plot at an al-Qaida training camp in Afghanistan. Darkazanli, 44, has acknowledged knowing the three pilots, Mohamed Atta, Marwan Al-Shehhi and Ziad Jarrah, with whom he attended the same radical Hamburg mosque, Al Quds, and shared several common friends in this city's sizable but insular Muslim community."
Of course the Germans will let him go in a few months, just like they did the guy convicted of 9-11 involvement, after his lawyers point out that the evil Guantanemo-running Americans were involved with collecting the evidence against him.
You got that wrong. Germany´s chief prosecutor is still working to get Mzoudi and Motassadeq into jail. The judges have heard that there was maybe material in the US which could prove innocence of both, therefore it dropped the charges until there´s further proof of guilt. Here, we have a concrete plea for extradiction, and there´s no reason for Germany not to extradite the guy to Spain (I hope that the Spanish have sufficient evidence for a conviction). And regarding Mzoudi and Motassadeq: both will get their penalties - if not in Germany, then in a country they will be extradited to.
Cool, glad you post that here too.....
To be believed when seen.

Let's hope they got his computer intact... and share the take with us
He looks rather nuanced to me.
... looks like you have no idea of codified law.
