Two weeks before the U.S. election, hostility toward President George W. Bush has reached new heights internationally. A joint poll taken by 10 newspapers worldwide reveals that most of those surveyed oppose Bush's policies, want to see him defeated, and paint his influence on the global situation in the gloomiest colors.
Israelis, perhaps not surprisingly, are alone in their support of the American president. While in other countries, 60-80 percent of those asked said they believed the war in Iraq to have been a mistake, in Israel most thought it justified.
While more than half of those polled elsewhere stated their attitude toward the U.S. had deteriorated, most respondents in Israel said their opinion had improved, and 76 percent said the U.S. contributed to peace in the world. Among Israelis polled, 50 percent said they would like to see George Bush reelected, with only 24 percent for Kerry.

Well, of course they do. He just liberated 50 million people from the misery of living under brutal dictatorships and started them on their way to building free societies for themselves. What a jerk!

No one asked me. Nor anyone else I am aware of. I wonder where these surveys are done.

Israel is not one of our partners in Bagdad. At least I don't think they are. It is interestng that the 30 other nations who are, aren't mentioned here.
This really does sound as if it's a 'evil joos' type of charge. As such it's very offensive.
We're having an election and the socialist world is being shaken to it's knees.
And to paraphrase President Bush: With all due respect, I don't think we should be trusting the media's polls. And even if those polls are correct, as the old biker says above...
So many times I have been told that the world was a much better place when the Soviets were there to counter American hegemony. Welcome to the world with one superpower.
My opinion is that we have only ourselves to blame for the mess we are in.
Americans and Israelies are the only people I have ever met overseas who seem to have no shame in showing their utter contempt for their own country. It is quite common to meet Americans overseas who have absolutely nothing good to say about their country. Everything they say has to be bad and they cannot bring themselves to say anything good about America.
Think for a moment and ask yourself this simple question.
"If you hate yourself so much, how can you expect someone else to like you?"
Are these surveys even really done, I sometimes wonder ? I've heard nothing about it on my side of the Channel either.
I have friends in France who are very supportive of George Bush, actually - they're in the Jewish community. You rarely hear anything about them, nor the fact that they staged a pro-Iraq War demonstration. It's a minority, but it does exist.

why in the world do the dems get the jewish vote so much?
i've never figured this out. what with the stereo type image of money changers and all big buisness being controlled by them?
Well, I'm as goy as you can get, but I want Bush to win the election. I prefer a difficult guy with whom you can work seriously than a friendlier one to whom "work" is honing his social skills.
Wonder why there's never any polls on how many people believe a single damn word or statistic the professional pollsters are hawking?
Evil secret society perhaps, or are pollsters tools of the "evil joos"?
International Poll: Islamic countries hate the US and Israel.
Remember the polls of even our Muslim "allies"?

"Among wealthy nations, Pew has found, the United States is the most religious nation in sharp contrast to mostly secular Western Europe. A 58% majority in the U.S. views belief in God as a prerequisite to morality just a third of Germans and even fewer Italians, British and French agree."

I'm no biker, but my first thought was "F*CK THE W*RLD!"
Then I thought of that old Tom Petty song (maybe he covered it) and the line "...I can tell the whole wide world to SHOVE IT!"
But the truth is, the pollsters are lying. Humans everywhere want to be free and love what America, at least ideologically, is about. It's the very vocal girlie-man minority that "hates" our president. Sort of like Yankee's anti-fans: they hate you because you're so surpassingly, undeniably good at what you do, and they can never, ever hope to begin to compete fairly. So they kick sand. Pussies.
A STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON PUBLIC POLLS' POLLING REVIEW BOARD
REPORTING INTERNATIONAL SURVEYS
March 25, 2003
These days there are many more opinion surveys of other countries, particularly countries in the middle-east. It is important to understand the opinions of our global neighbors and to compare and contrast their opinions, when appropriate, with those of the American public. Reporting these international studies often makes for interesting journalism.
However, we want to offer a caution. The reporting of these studies requires special attention to how they were conducted. We have noticed a number of recent studies where the sampling is not representative of the country. Several studies did their sampling in only a single city, sometimes two cities. Some samples are further limited to select groups of residents, typically middle class people. Public opinion in these studies, when measured this way, may not be a fair representation of public opinion in these countries.
The press releases from these surveys should point out the limits of the sampling. What they should say is something like, this survey only represents the [MIDDLE CLASS] people living in [CITY], or something similar. If you do not see a methods statement ask for it!
Surveys are usually done this way as a matter of pragmatism and because of cost considerations. They may be useful even with their limitations. If they are reported, we caution not to generalize beyond that part of the country represented by the survey. Both the organizations releasing survey results and those reporting on them should make note of the limitations on the interpretation. There should be no public reporting of surveys that suggest greater reliability than the methodology permits nor that suggests that the results can be generalized beyond the specific sample interviewed.
Everyone likes to be liked but not everyone shuns everything they believe in to be liked. The world tolerated us for our money and whatever they could get. How many countries have come to our rescue during crisis? How many did we aid in time of need? I wish they all liked us, but since they don't, that's the way it will have to be. The U.S. should never cater to any of them again! Negotiate? Yes, but selling ourselves for fake handshakes will no longer cut it for me.
Nobody ever died on a rubber boat escaping Miami for Cuba.
