Somebody will be president in 3 weeks. Right now, it's too close to call. That's what scares me. How can we have such a clear choice and have such a close race. I felt this way with the Liar In Chief before Bush and was mortified that the country almost got Algore elected.
Think about it, this isn't president of the student union, this is president of the most powerfull country on Earth and we may get Algore, Kerry, Hitlery, Nader? You say "NO WAY!" I say "Way!" We are a few dead voters and recounts from lawsuits away from a total sea change in capitalism.
My question is, in the next 4 years, even with a Bush win, what can we do to turn this ship away from the iceberg. Somehow, writing books, owning the AM radio stations, and "Fair and Balanced" Fox isn't getting the message out. All these, plus Freeping, reaches about 10 million people maybe and most of that is preaching to the choir. Why are we frightened when they have voter drives at colleges? It's because the pans of brain mush are conditioned to be socialists. Why do we pay taxes to teach lies to our children? We must fix, and soon, the educational system in this country to at least teach that we are a republic, not a democracy. We are capitalists, not whatever else they teach. They need to know our true history, not diversity. They need to understand that the whole world depends on our country, not the other way around.
There is a movie out called "A world without Mexicans" or some title like that. Think about what a world without the ONLY CAPITALIST country would be like. We support ALL the socialist countries in the world single handedly. They all take advantage of us and we let them. We discover 90% of all the breakthrough drugs in the world, but our drug companies are "evil". How much money do we give to Africa, even though they are the richest country in the world in resourses. Is there a natural disaster anywhere on this planet that we don't contribute the bulk of aid and help? We give most of the money to the World Bank and to the UN, but what has it bought us? Who would stand up to the bully murderers of the world without the US? Our kids are taught that we are the problem. That we should realise that other cultures are as valid as ours and that because a few capitalist pigs heads were sacrificed, we should understand they asked for it.
I don't think it's enough to have voter drives, pay for ads in the papers and write the editors. Our strategy must be larger, alot larger. The key is the children. If we have to have an Education dept.( remember when Carter formed it it was to take away local control), then let us control it. We should preview the textbooks that are approved and hold back money if it reads like Karl Marx's manifesto. The liberals have a chokehold on our schools and ergo our childrens minds. A good idea was school vouchers, but that was 15 years ago and we are still waiting. Those children are now voting. and they will vote for the party that will legalize dope, not alow corpral punishment, doesn't believe in God, does't expect work from them, will put them on a program, won't fine Howard Stern, etc. Just think, we get Kerry for prez because a few hundred college kids want Howard back on the air. That's where we are today, and it only is going to get worse from here.
I believe taking over the education system is key(and I mean taking it over, firing teachers that won't teach, buying only approved books, etc), I homeschooled my own daughter and she is a real citizen. She will be voting her first time this election. Homeschooling isn't for everyone, however and we should get something for our taxes. What do you think?
P.S. I just got through watching Nightline where they went to find out what the Viet Cong thought about Kerry, because our vetrans must be lying. Probably more than 50% of the viewers believe the VC. They don't have a clue about what went on and equate communism with fighting for the "little guy". They never learned about the mass graves and killing fields.
Bush will be President until January if he loses. =o)
Bush has it. No worries.
some worries....
How could this be close ,a traitor, doesn't the public get it Kerry is a liberal lying traitor!
worry about vote fraud.
I'm not so worried about kerry...the margin of fraud is what has me concerned right now.
does that ansewr the question?
He has the electoral college at this point.
He leads in most national polls.
He just got the endorsement from the NRA, thereby knocking into Kerry's union support.
As long as we keep working, and helping, Bush wins.
Call me an optimist. But, no worries.
What worries me is the schools... they are brainwashing the kids. When I was a kid I was taught to think for myself -- but Clinton-era-teachers are brainwashing. it happened right under everyone's noses -- I can provide a great example right now if anyone was interested.
Hope for the best.
Prepare for the worst.
I am on it.
I don't know a solution, but perhaps people should be throwing out ideas. It was a grassroots movement that got homeschool as an alternative. We have non government funded/run after-school programs, some from churches but many from organized neighborhood charities. So, what about a grassroots movement to have small homeschool type classes for those who are not in circumstances to homeschool and can't get a voucher to private school? It may not really be feasible, but who knows until it's tried?
keep your nose to the grindstone...do not waiver.

I pray your right. But how can you be so sure?
I'm just saying, we can't count on "luck" forever to save the country. Every election since Carter has been like a revolution to me. We saw just how bad a bad president could be. Nobody remembers 12% unemployment, 22% interest rates, 10%inflation, gas lines, repossess houses, thousands of them, enough to have it's own section in the newspaper bigger than the sports section. That's not to mention him backing down from almost every confrontation in the world. I blame the terrorism of today for his "mis handling" of the Iran hostages. The whole world saw we would back down if they stiffened up. Guess what, they've been getting stiffer every year since. Show me a Democrat, besides Zell or Liberman that would do anything to protect us. They all want to have a summit and apologize for whatever. How many apologies did Slick Willie give in 8 years. Did he apologise for slavery, killin injuns, taking land from Mexico? I can't remember them all. I don't think Juanita ever got one though.
I keep trying to be encouraged by the growing red states, the Repub legislatures and governors, but I still can't believe this is a 50-50 country. They could go to Canada or Sweden if they wanted to. This is it for me. If I was a socialist, I wouldn't hesitate to move. Free health care in Cuba, working for the common good, driving my '58 Chevy Bel Air, I mean what else could a socialist hope for?
We need some solid ideas and we need them quick because the next election could be the one we loose if we don't.
It is the Liberal Senator from Mass.
Unless voter fraud is completely rampant, Bush gets the nod.
The libs hate Bush. But, not all Democrats are liberal.
Bush mentioned, in the last two debates, just how liberal his voting record is. It is getting play in the media.
It will have an effect.
"Nobody remembers 12% unemployment, 22% interest rates, 10%inflation, gas lines, repossess houses, thousands of them, enough to have it's own section in the newspaper bigger than the sports section"
I was young then. And I remember. I also remember my father changing parties. This following Bork being nominated to the Supreme Court. My father could not believe Ted Kennedy's questioning of Bork.
There are many Democrats that will not vote for democrats.
Their party has been been hijacked, and the some (many) of the voters know it.
Jet Jaguar, I'm 48...ditto to what you said about how much we've lost. It's amazing.
