she has been up consistently as I've been monitoring. This race is always a bellweather and I've NEVER seen it this wide at this point - it's usually within MOE up to the election.

Her opponent has ran a very poor media campaign. He has ads where he, himself, appears attacking Northup. That's just bad strategy.

The DCCC has now moved is and is running very negative ads attacking Northup and attaching her to Bush.

And being attached to Bush is considered bad in KY?

I haven't heard any numbers on the 4th District lately. Did hear through the grapevine that Davis is catching up at a rapid pace. Clooney has started running a negative ad, so that's got to be a positive sign!!!

Other districts:

1) Whitfield will win with 60%+

2) Lewis will win with 70%+

3) Looks like Anne has a good lead! May be her biggest win yet.

5) Hal has no opponent

6) Unfortunately Chandler will win easily. Good news is Buford is going to do better than expected. Bad news, anything over 40% for him is better than expected. We HAVE to get a good candidate for this seat in '06!!!!

Good to hear about Northup & Davis. ...Buford, Why? Buford ...is the GOP (in this district) pulling "I'm Bob Dole, Its' my Turn" Candidacy? ...Its' NOT REALLY an entitlement...You gotta work for it, Tom...I have yet to see a single yard sign (I doubt, the D'Rats are stealing them, are they all in Jessamine Co.?), no Media advertising proclaiming his Candidacy...

Well, I don't think the party really selected Buford. I think they gave up after Alice Kerr lost the special election.

The Herald-Leader ran an article earlier in the week calling Buford a "maverick Republican". To call him a maverick would be kind. But, I don't guess the Herald-Leader uses the phrase RINO too often.

The reason you haven't seen any yard signs or ads is because Buford doesn't have the money to purchase them.

I don't blame the state or local GOP for sitting this one out with Buford as the candidate. I think they should make a massive effort starting on November 3rd to get a good legitimate candidate for '06. My personal pick? Either former State Representative Stan Cave or current State Representative Stan Lee.

Buford fell out of favor when he threatened to turn the Senate back to Democrat and also when it was shown he was helping Chandler defeat Kerr because he was mad he wasn't selected.

Northup's district is Louisville. Bush isn't as popular there...although not so unpopular that I think this is going to work. Kerry may win her district with 51-52% of the vote.

Is that considered a Democrat district?

It is the most liberal district in Kentucky, containing all of Louisville. Louisville, however, is not as liberal as, say, a city like Los Angeles or Chicago.

Thanks. I just do not understand how they could elect a Republican and be against Bush!

On some issues, Northup has been a bit of a moderate (however, her district demands that she be or she won't be re-elected).

Louisville is liberal for Kentucky, which makes it moderate for the rest of the nation. It will elect Republicans, but they can't be strict conservatives. Only a few of those can even make it into the state legislature from the Louisville area, and they have to be from the east end which is the wealthier area.
