The glum faces on CNN & MSNBC tell me that President Bush won.
I wanted more of GW as he was in the second debate, walking around, aggressive, but it seemed as if both candidates wanted to appear more likeable than forceful. This may sound odd, but the first debate, I was disappointed, Kerry was so smooth, well, scripted. GW stumbled, seemed to talk off the cuff, at times had to search for the right word. But when it ended, I thought about what both men had said, not how they'd said it, and I realized GW had won on substance. I surprised myself. It wasn't whistling past the graveyard, the light went on in my brain. I was stunned, and then realized GW never wavers from his inner integrity...sorry for that word...but he's plain spoken and people appreciate that. Not everyone gets to go to Yale and speak in twenty dollar words. GW comes across as someone you'd be comfortable with in your own kitchen. That impression is worth its weight in gold.
The left thinks this will turn off the evangelical vote against the president....They are deadly wrong. The Evangelical's will be out even stronger than in 2000.

ABC's Cokie Roberts talking to Sam Donaldson said that the only big debate that counted was the first one...she said it turned the race around and will be the leading reason if Kerry does take the presidency, and that this debate was a perhaps a slight win for Kerry but probably a tie.
