While we're all praying let's do the 3 for the price of one special - it's much more economical this way. Saddam Hussein has just undergone a hernia surgery and Osama bin Laden still suffers from kidney disease. On your knees, everyone!

Actually, there have been numerous studies that concluded that memeory problems are a not-uncommon complication of open heart surgery, especially if the heart-lung machine was used.
Researchers used to think that it also caused dementia but more recent studies have pretty much disproved that. (IIRC)

I think that the stress he was experiencing chasing after her had something to do with this.

We can only hope that when this is all over, the closest Edwards will ever get to fame again is by being a participant in a celebrity boxing event.

He'll be fine. They don't call him the comeback kid for nothing.

Unless Satan is exercising his contract options.

I had triple-bypass surgery in 1988. I experienced no pain whatsoever and no "mental problems" and took no pain medication. If there was pain it would have been very minor in the stitches in my legs but none in the chest area.

Where are the dozen or so on this thread?

Maybe you're a wimp. :-)

I had triple-bypass surgery in 1988. I experienced none of the so-called "pain" and "mental problems" as explained on this thread.....certainly not dementia.

Any time anyone undergoes anesthesia there are short-term memory problems/slight confusion but those problems disappear after a week or so.....maybe two weeks.

Hogwash.....and I speak from personal bypass surgery.

Isn't The 'Toon worth far more to Hillary dead than alive? If I were The 'Toon I wouldn't give Hillary power of attorney. She'd flip the switch on him quicker than The 'Toon would mount an intern.

Personally, I think Bubba is just laying low until after the election. When sKerry loses in November, I predict Clinton's going to be right as rain again.

Perhaps he'll feel much better on Nov 3 when Hillary's campaign for President begins. Conveniently he doesn't feel well enough to campaign for Kerry.

I had bypass surgery in 1988. Two weeks, to the day, after my surgery I was in the attic running the wires for and installing a ceiling fan. The very next day I took my boat out to go fishing.....that included hooking up the trailer, launching the boat, operating the boat, releasing and retrieving the anchor, catching fish and getting the boat back on the trailer, driving home, cleaning the boat and cleaning the fish.

Methinks that there are many pseudo-medical-experts on this thread.

I think that there are lots of different outcomes. Some, like you, do exceedingly well. But some don't. Being on the heart lung machine can be hard on the brain, it makes the surgery much worse. And some die having a bypass, my father died post op minutes after a triple bypass. There are alot of experts on this thread.

I was talking to a doctor about a 2 weeks ago. The guy was involved in treating President Reagan after he was shot. We talked about Mr. Reagan's death. He commented there would be another one in the very near future.
