The right-wing echo chamber Free Republic, where private citizens spit pseudonymous venom, is also a rich treasure trove of nastiness. In late 2003 when the Massachusetts Supreme Court voted to allow marriage rights for same-sex couples, the Freepers went off:
"This is great that Massachusett's gay judges did this. Let all the fudgepackers move there and be clients of the Dickem and Dunkem (Ted Kennedy) law firm," wrote a poster named "Therapist."
"Can I marry my mule?" asked another.
Another responded: "Sorry. Next step is to give them your boys. They want the age of consent lowered to around 10 years old. Your mule will have to wait in line."
"There is nothing 'normal' about homos," another added. "Even the wild animals know better (Except male goats. They're really filthy)."

So the liberals don't want pseudonymous venom? No problem, just
Or on my faith, my family, or my country.

Time Out NY ranked political news sites and publications.
The New York Times was listed as left leaning. Al Jazeera was cited as centrist.
Free Republic wound up on a short list of "fringe" sites and listed as right-wing extremist.
In a world where the NY Times is the left of centrist Al Jazeera, I wouldn't want to be anyplace BUT on the far right of that spectrum.

He certainly couldn't cite the earlier threads about the court ruling from the Supremes that struck down all sex laws (sodomy laws for now but in reality laws outlawing prostitution and other "crimes" between consenting adults in private).
That is because those threads warned of the looming reality of same sex marriage. Santorum and others were called "extremists" who were exaggerating. Their warnings have come to pass.
If group sex is legal, why isn't group marriage? I'd bet that there are more nations that currently have polygamy than have same sex marriage as a legal union.
The left says that it is a "scare tactic" to claim that they are pushing the age of consent down but it has ALREADY happened. Some states had laws prohibiting same sex sodomy for anyone under 18. When the sodomy laws were killed by the activist court, the distinction between same sex and complementary sex acts was dropped FOR ALL AGES. So much that this was about "consenting ADULTS".

I haven't seen an antiwar protestor yet who isn't also PRO-Palestinian War.
I'm sure that there are some pacificists who truly do oppose all war. The pope reportedly spoke out against the war in Iraq but did not actively protest the action and the Vatican has since said that it must be fought and it must be won since the die has already been cast.
I just haven't encountered those on the left who oppose ALL war. There are many conflicts that they could be protesting at this moment (31 I believe).

we should hold ourselves to a higher standard and keep the discourse more civil.Agreed. As I put it to a fellow FReeper yesterday whose post had been pulled by the admin mod, "let's not give bulletin-board material to the other side."

Impossible.
They are attempting to strip me of my civil rights by turning this country into a Labor party puppet of secular EU. I won't stand for it.
They blatantly hate Christians and all other forms of religious practice.
So, I would have to surmise you and your friends aren't practicing, which is why you can agree to disagree.
