I got into bed last night and out of habit I patted my chest three times and immediately choked back a sob. Three pats was my signal to little Bandit to come up to my chest and cuddle and snuggle. He's been doing this for many years. I was despairing and I suddenly felt smaller footies climbing up on me. The little Manx, Amber, herself no spring chicken and ill, deliberately strode up on my chest and proceeded to kiss and lick my chin! I cried. It's like Bandit briefed Amber on the duties of her new position. We always called him the "Little Prince" because he ran the house cats. Now, she's the "Little Princess" and she is undertaking her responsibilities with total dedication. God's hand is so firm and loving.

Ex -

My heart breaks every time you bring up your Bandit. I have a solution, though. I have a 9 week old kitten I would love to send you. Think FedEx can deliver? LOL.

No kidding. You have too much love to share. Get out there and take in some poor little daring that needs you as much as you need her. Kitten, I mean. Adoption is the loving choice!

So Sorry for you loss Buddy. I was a mess when I lost my 11 year old Iguana, Ming, 2 years ago. I know we'll meet again and you and yours will too someday. God Bless.

Oh my God Ex-Soldier, that brings tears to my eyes. Amber is aware of your loss (and her's too). How cool is that. God is taking care of you Ex-Soldier, by reminding you of the ones who remain. You are blessed with loving animals (and loving family), which is much more than many in this world have. Thank you for sharing that with me (us) and know that there are many more of us out here with the same degree of love for our pets as you have with yours (and who have also experienced similar deep suffering at their loss). Bless you for putting your pain in words, because it must have been excruciating for you to do and that took true bravery.
