The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

That post has some pretty good mahdi related information on it-lets dissect it a little:


When the author speaks of "Countdown"-"days remaining" in paragraph 2 could he be speaking of the eclipse and red moon which supposedly brings forth the mahdi after some huge natural or man made catastrophe?

On the same note, could the references to a revolution on the Arabian Peninsula be references to Saudi Arabia, where the Mahdi is supposed to lead an army on a march to Mecca and seize the shrine

(the recreation of the battle of Al badr that is foretold?)


In my opinion, mahdi or not, I believe Bin Laden is manipulating events to make himself look like the mahdi. The timing of his past attacks seems to have been planned to capitolize on this.

What do you guys think? its just a theory, but its starting to flesh out a little bit.

I think Bin Laden is still dead and that he's buried under a couple of tons of rock somewhere in the vicinity of Tora Bora. Just a hunch.

I, on the other hand, believe he is still alive. Maybe not in good health, but still alive. That also is just a gut feeling. Obviously our feelings are not coinciding, and one of us is right, and one of us is wrong. I have a feeling we will know shortly. God Forbid.

Just because OBL is dead doesn't mean that AQ died with him. So, while AQ may be waiting to pounce, the orders didn't come from OBL, at least not in the last 22 months or so.

Why do I think OBL is dead? Its called "EGO." If OBL was alive, his ego would compel an appearance in some irrefutable fashion to show his followers and the world that he has stood up to the greatest infidel of all -- President George W. Bush of the United States of America. And while OBL has appeared on a couple of videotapes over the last 22 months, if he wanted to show the world he's alive, then he would have released a tape with date sensitive information to prove he was alive as of that particular date.

Not if he is waiting for something special. I don't believe it is a big ego trip for him. I think, you are thinking to American there. I think he can wait outside the limelight, for something spectacular. No doubt in my mind. I don't know for sure if he is dead or alive. No more than anyone else. I just think that Osama has much patience, if the ends meet his goals.

There was a full lunar eclipse last year on November 8 and much similar speculation about the coming of the Mahdi (possibly as bin Laden).

Nothing happened, but it was a pretty site (my picture doesn't quite do it justice!). :)

Interestingly enough, I am supposed to attend an Iftar dinner tomorrow night (required for my Arabic class). I will report back on any oddities. ;-)

It may start a chain of events, or it may be a go signal. Not sure.

The red moon coupled with the two eclipses wont happen again for about 1200 years, so this is their last chance this generation.

I dont think they will waste it.

Another note: If OBL is dead, that makes him prime candidate for the position of dajal, a kind of messianic forerunner to the mahdi. That means someone else has to be the mahdi instead of OBL.
