BLOCKBUSTER, FAIR AND BALANCED?
THE AL RANTEL SHOW - TALK RADIO 790 KABC ^ | 10-11-04 | M. GARRETT

Posted on 10/11/2004 6:47:06 PM PDT by MattGarrett

Tonight, on the AL RANTEL SHOW, a caller - who is a manager at a local Blockbuster - said that they had TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-EIGHT copies of FARENHEIT 9-11 and only EIGHT copies of Dick Morris' FarenHYPE 9-11.

Al's reply "Fair and Balanced at Blockbuster, eh?"

There is always plenty of video stores. I actually prefer my local mom and pop store. They have a huge collection of classic movies of all flavors like science fiction, musicals, mysteries, drama, action. They also have a neat little feature they have a collection of all the academy award winner movies.

I think that's called supply and demand. Since Farenhype has not had 1/4 the amount of press as Moore's film I am amazed they have 8 copies.

I was in the video store last Friday night and noticed that there was about 250 copies of Moore's movie and only one little space for about 4 movies of Dick Morris' movie.

The FUNNY THING tho, was that there was only about 2 copies of Moore's movie missing and there was not one copy of Morris' movie left to rent. HAHAHAHAHHA

Since my wife won't give me the password to Netflix, I end up renting the movies I want from Hollywood video. Next to a floor to ceiling stack of FahrenHEIT 911 (clearly not much rental activity) were four copies of FahrenHYPE 911. I grabbed one and made my 15 year old daughter watch it with me. She was surprised I got it. Her friends had told her it was impossible to rent.

After I watched it, I taped a note on the inside cover stating, "Please watch and return this ASAP so that others can see this important documentary."

Hey, it's a small step, but it's something.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist, but it does seem strange there were so few copies of FahrenHYPE and so many of FahrenHEIT. It also seemed strange that the B&N stores in Grapevine and Lewisville, Texas only got copies of Unfit For Command a week and a half ago. Of course, this could reflect the simple bias of some leftist purchasing schmuck at the corporate HQ.

Moore's libel did not do that well at the box office. It had a big openning week, followed by huge media hype (cover of Time, etc.).

I fear for our contry. I shouldn't surf DU - so many thoughtless people.

I've heard Redstone wants to get rid of Blockbuster. You watch the selection change then.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I recently went to their website because they have a DVD rental by mail service and found that ALL of their political films were liberal - NO conservative films whatsoever!!!

They maybe on the same "new release" wall however, Hype was on the bottom shelf (3 copies all rented) where you have to bend over to see them. The second to bottom shelf completely hides them. Of course, Heit has a full section all to itself. This was at a blockbuster in Del Mar, CA.

I noticed the two full shelves of this Mikey Moore BS piece of celluloid on my last visit to Blockbuster. Guess what? They stayed full on a Friday night! I overheard a few people commenting on the quantity of that movie and the fact that the movie they wanted was all out.

I bet they will be selling them used for $1.00 each on November 8th. Or better yet, Blockbuster will donate them to Dimbocrats Anonymous, who's support group meetings will be standing room only by then.

I haven't gone to blockbuster since I was involved in the class action lawsuit against them regarding their "late fee" practices.... i.e. posting misleading and false advertisements about when a movie was actually due, lying about bringing a movie in late when it was actually on time... I wouldn't rent there if you paid me.

dont forget the number of actors/actresses you are boycotting too!!!

at this rate, there wont be anything on TV for people if they are boycotting like this.

Blockbuster is in the business to make MONEY, not political statements. AS much as it grinds on me, fatboys movie did very well in the theatres....Hype did not. Its that simple. if they get more money by renting hype then hate, then they will get more copies....

So they are taking up valuable shelf space on Moore's stinker? Can't imagine anyone but the farthest left renting that trash, even if Blockbuster was out of every other movie.

Blockbuster is owned by Viacom. Same as CBS, MTV, BET, Infinity Broadcasting (number 2 station owner behind Clear Channel)...

When the Concert For NYC was broadcast live, the police and firemen in the audience booed Hillary Clinton when she came on stage. The rebroadcasts were overdubbed with cheers. This is the bastardized version that was released to home video as well.

Then again, Viacom (Simon & Schuster) had paid Hillary $8million advance for her autobiography (in the waning days between winning the election as Senator and being sworn in so she did not violate Senate "ethics"). They had to protect their investment.

Boycott Viacom.

Harris County's library has had Unfit For Command stocked since the summer. Houston Public Library FINALLY has the book listed in the system as being "on order". Funny how the bookstore down the street has it.

I would not count on them to shelve their copies until AFTER election day (even though this state is not in play and O'Neil is a LOCAL author).

Uh, it's called supply and demand. If they only anticipate eight copies of a movie being out at one time, they buy eight copies. If they anticipate a large volume of a particular movie being rented at one time, they load up.

Capitalism. Gotta love it!

And what did Farenhype do in theater box office?

Does this mean that they stocked 3 times as many copies of The Passion of the Christ as copies of Fahrenheit 9/11?

Passion of the Christ: Year-to-date DOMESTIC boxoffice $370.3million (60.8% of its total), FOREIGN boxoffice $239.2million (39.2% of its total)

Fahrenheit 9/11: Year-to-date DOMESTIC boxoffice $119.1million (55.8% of its total), FOREIGN boxoffice $94.3 (44.2% of its total)

Michael Moore sells anti-Americanism and he knows it. Look at the foreign editions of his DVDs and books (you can look them up on the foreign Amazon.coms like amazon.co.uk and amazon.fr)

Gave up shopping at Blockbuster years ago when they tried to rip me off and the manager couldn't understand why I was upset.
