BLOCKBUSTER, FAIR AND BALANCED?
THE AL RANTEL SHOW - TALK RADIO 790 KABC ^ | 10-11-04 | M. GARRETT

Posted on 10/11/2004 6:47:06 PM PDT by MattGarrett

Tonight, on the AL RANTEL SHOW, a caller - who is a manager at a local Blockbuster - said that they had TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-EIGHT copies of FARENHEIT 9-11 and only EIGHT copies of Dick Morris' FarenHYPE 9-11.

Al's reply "Fair and Balanced at Blockbuster, eh?"

And what did Farenhype do in theater box office?

Essentially nothing, right?

You should be prasing Blockbuster to the heavens for having as many as 8 copies. Sheesh.

Since it is well known that liberals don't spend money, why would blockbuster want to piss off Conservatives? Hey, if you want to play that game..I'm in!

Moore is disgusting but I would at least give BB credit for having FarenHYPE 9-11. Considering the relative grosses and publicity between the movies, I would not expect a equal demand so therefore they should not have a equal supply.

If anything, congratulate them on carry the title and encourage them to promote side by side displays of both movies.

IDEA:

EVERYONE call their local blockbuster and ASK if they have FarenHYPHE 9-11 in stock. IF they get enough calls, EVEN if they don't rent them, they'll get them in THINKING they will.

Blockbuster is owned by Viacom, I believe.

Actually, I think Viacom did own or is in the process of selling of Blockbuster.

Blockbuster is a business, and if the demand is there, they'll supply it. My local Blockbuster is chock full of both Farenheit 9/11 and Passion of the Christ. If enough copies aren't rented out, then they'll start selling the used DVD's pretty quickly. Likewise, if they can't seem to keep enough copies on the shelf, they'll buy more.

Yup, VIACOM. Part of CBS, MTV, etc.....
I refuse to do business with them. They have a very skewed selection. Very few of the classic movies, they are more geared to the MTV crowd.

Heavy sigh. At the rate of boycotts I am doing, I'm going to run out of stores to shop at!

I was surprised to see that my local Blockbuster actually did have F-Hype, but for rent only. Moore's crap was for sale or for rent. I wanted to buy F-Hype.

I ordered F-hype online, can't wait to get it!

If you ask and they don't have it, then you get a free rental. It's a good deal.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the tolerant folks in Hollyweird"

I with those who say "Be thankful they have 8 copies." Hype will be right next to Heit on the new release wall so those looking for Heit will see Hype and might be tempted to watch both.

Blockbuster is in trouble anyway these days. More of their business is in assessing late return fees than video and DVD rental fees.

I can't even remember the last time I rented a movie. And I'm not going to give 10 bucks to a spoiled hollywood liberal at showcase cinemas either.
I think the last movie my wife and I saw at the theater, besides movies we took our kids to see was Forrest Gump.

So what? Who buys or rents from Blockbuster anyway? No serious DVD fan would step one foot into one of their stores.
