THE WEEKEND THREAD
|
|
Read: Matthew 16:1-4
A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Matthew 16:4
Bible In One Year: Isaiah 37-38; Colossians 3
A group of religious leaders asked Jesus to give them a "sign from heaven" (Matthew 16:1). They had witnessed many of His miracles, but they had either minimized them or attributed them to Satan. The Pharisees were now demanding that Jesus perform another miracleperhaps like Joshua who commanded the sun and moon to stand still (Joshua 10:12-14), or like Elijah who called down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18:30-40). They did this to test Jesus.
Seeing their hypocrisy, Jesus said that while they could make weather predictions by looking at the sky, they were unable to read the much clearer "signs of the times" revealed in His ministry of teaching and healing (v.3).
Some people have told me they would believe in Jesus if He showed them miracles like those in the Gospels. But what makes them think they would react any differently than the religious leaders of Jesus' day?
Anyone who sincerely seeks the truth has all the evidence necessary for faith. The resurrection of Jesus is a historically credible event. The power of the risen Christ can be seen in many of His followers. The New Testament speaks to the mind and heart of every sincere, seeking soul. To ask for more is a hypocritical request. Military Monday Bump.
Hi Ya Sam!
Happy Monday, see you in the Foxhole!
We're always looking forward to seeing you.
Thanks to all who have served!
Good morning Mr.Mayor.
Heavenly Father, please place Your bloodline of protection around our military as they perform their selfless acts to keep us free from terrorism. Bless their families for the sacrifices that they, too have made. Allow us the humility to openly thank all of these wonderful people and to include them in our daily prayers. We ask these favors in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
*Whatta weekend!* Many difficulties and problems encountered beginning with unreasonably noisy neighbors and culminating in our ISP (Adelphia) losing the ability to connect with select Websites including Free Republic - go figure. We could go just about anywhere else on the Internet. They finally "fixed" the "problem" late yesterday afternoon.
((((((HUGS)))))))) - here's hoping for a better week!
Hi Ya Aeronaut!
Thanks for coming by..
Wow - so it really *was* an Adelphia "glitch!" Now I'll have to go do some research to see who owns these bozos.
They told .45MAN in an email that ebay was somehow blocked, too, so they had a lot of complaints about that. Naturally, I logged on to ebay and it came up quite nicely. Now I think that was just a fabrication.
(((((((RUS)))))))))))
I don't know who owns it any more.
The former owners are in court or jail..
LOL - that, unfortunately, speaks volumes.
They have a monopoly where we are now living in FL. There are rumors that Comcast may buy them out, but I think that's just what they are - rumors.
Thank you, by the way, for bringing us our daily Scripture. It is greatly appreciated.
I enjoy posting Our Daily Bread, that way I'm sure to read it myself.
I have been pushing for another cable company, we need competition to beat the price down.
We pay almost 100. a month for TV and computer, it's ridiclous..
Same here. That's what happens when they have a captive audience.
We had Earthlink DSL in Atlanta with very few problems. Oh well, got to take the good with the bad. At least we're back in FL.
Proud to Support Our Military.
Colleen
(((((((Colleen)))))))
It has been ages! Hoping this finds you doing well!
Thank you for the beautiful graphic supporting our military.
Hi there. Hope everthing is going well in Florida for you and .45Man. I am so happy that you moved to where you want to be. Life is too darn short to be somewhere you don't want to be. My best to you and your hubby.
((((((Colleen))))))) - thank you for the well wishes.
Please keep us in prayer for suitable employment. That part of the equation seems to be eluding us right now.
My daughter is coming down from VA to vist for a few days starting tomorrow - can't wait!
