WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America CEO and President David Brock has written a letter to Sinclair Broadcasting asking the company to cancel its reported plans to force its stations to air the anti-Kerry attack film, "Stolen Honor: Wound That Never Heal," between now and the Nov. 2 presidential election.

"Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes," Brock says. In his letter, Brock warned Sinclair that the plan could constitute a violation of broadcast regulations requiring equal time for political candidates as well as the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. He branded a "charade" the notion that the film could be classified as "news" as a way of getting around those restrictions.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "Stolen Honor" features former POWs accusing Kerry of "worsening their ordeal by prolonging the war." The Times reported that the maker of the film, former Washington Times reporter Carlton Sherwood, tells viewers on the film's website, "Intended or not, Lt. Kerry painted a depraved portrait of Vietnam veterans, literally creating the images of those who served in combat as deranged, drug-addicted psychopaths, baby killers" that has endured for 30 years.

In his letter, Brock wrote, "I don't have to remind you... (that) fourteen of the 62 stations the company either owns or programs are in the key political swing stations of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where the presidential election is being closely fought."

In the 2004 political cycle, according to the Times, Sinclair executives have given nearly $68,000 in political contributions, 97 percent of it going to Republicans. The Center for Responsive Politics ranks Sinclair 12th among top radio and TV station group contributors.

No. Since moore's video trashes conservatives, they'll be just fine with it.

I quick visit to Media Matters for America showed that Dan Rather is a missing person, as far as they are concerned. Funny that a group like that would have no search results at all for the anchor of one of the big three networks.

The group is so leftist it is almost a parody. I thought at first it was a parody, since they complain about the right wing bias of Hardball with Chris Matthews.

Brock pretended to be a Republican at least, who suddenly became a liberal and then wrote books doing all the damage he could to his former party. I do wonder if he wasn't a mole the entire time.

John Kerry's Discharge - He won't sign Form 180 - What is he hiding?

http://acuf.org/issues/issue21/040929pol.asp

What a young man did more than 30 years ago should not be a primary criteria in determining his qualifications to be President of the United States. George Bush has had almost 4 years now as Commander and Chief of the World"s largest military force and he should be judged on how well he has done. Yet John Kerry and the Democratic left won"t give it up. On almost a daily basis he says I served this country honorably as a young man in Vietnam (4 months/12 days) and I will serve this country honorably as Commander and Chief. Then the Left yells that George Bush got preferential treatment in getting into the National Guard and even failed to complete his guard obligations; even forging documents to prove their point.

The facts are that George Bush served honorably in the National Guard obtaining service points far in excess of the 50 annual service points required to meet his obligation. Records show that in 1968/69 he accumulated 253 points, 340 in 1969/70, 137 in 1970/71, 112 in 1971/72, 56 in 1972/73 and 56 in 1973/74. Points far in excess of the service agreed to and that required to meets his obligation and be Honorably Discharged. George Bush has never made his National Guard service a qualification to lead this country, nor has he ever questioned the service of John Kerry.

While the Left and the mainstream media have never questioned the Vietnam era service of John Kerry, they seem to feel that the record of George Bush 30 years ago should be of concern to voters in November. But what about John Kerry's record? We are told that he was a decorated veteran. We are also told that he was deeply involved in anti-war activities on his return from Vietnam in violation of his oath as an officer in the US Navy. By his own account of his actions and protests, he violated the UCMJ, the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Code while serving as a Navy officer. Further he met, on two occasions, with North Vietnamese negotiators in 1970 and 1971, while a Reserve Officer, willingly placing himself in violation of Article three, Section three of the U.S. Constitution, which defines treason as "giving aid and comfort" to the enemy in time of warfare.

From here the record of John Kerry becomes unclear and the mainstream press won't demand that John Kerry sign a Department of Defense (DOD) form 180 that would release all of his military records. Records released by his campaign are confusing. There are indications that he was Honorably Discharged on Jan. 3, 1970, Feb 16, 1978, July 13, 1978 and even lately Mar. 12, 2001. Why the confusion on a relatively simple service event. Could it be that John Kerry received a less than honorable discharge in the early 70"s because of his anti-war activities? And then was pardoned for those activities when then President Jimmy Carter on January 21, 1978 ( Proclamation 4483) granted a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all persons who may have committed any offense between August 4, 1964 and March 28, 1973 in violation of the Military Selective Service Act or any rule or regulation promulgated there under.

Did John Kerry request that his service be granted an Honorable Discharge and it was finally granted in 1978? Only a complete release of his military records will show what actually happened during this period. And, to date John Kerry has refused to sign the necessary DOD form 180 which would allow for this release. If the Democratic Party, the media, and the Bush critics are going to demand, as they do on almost a daily basis, that George Bush release all of his records, should they not do the same for John Kerry?

It seems to me that Kerry got all kinds of air time when testifying before the senate committee back in 1972. It's time for the other side to get the same....finally!

John Kerry : You paying attention?

It's me, one of the "war criminals" who was there when you were there.

I was there Oct'68 to Apr'69

Many, Many ghosts have been awaken and have come to haunt you.

The Fallen Brothers and Sisters that you helped the VC kill
and the Fallen Brothers and Sisters who helped commit suicide
and/or die from injuries you caused are calling you.

Listen Closely John, Listen Closely!

Repent now and save your soul!

This is your last chance. to save your soul.

Remember the person you used to be.

Remember when you knew what honor was.

Remember John

OR YOU WILL HEAR THEIR VOICES FOREVER!

I think what Sinclair is doing is wrong. But this is exactly the sort of thing that the monstrosity known as "Campaign Finance Reform" allows to happen.

Brock wouldn't be whining one maddog bit if one of the major networks played Fahrenheit 9/11 at this point in the campaign if Sinclair hadn't beat the lefties to the punch.

I did not recognize the name “Media Matters for America” and when I clicked on the thread I thought they might be some well respected media organization. It is just David “I never got invited to the really cool Republican parties” Brock. He and his group are a joke.

"progressive research and information center". Yeah right.
"Progressive", "peace", "liberal", all phony words that mean the opposite of what they sound like. Code words for anti-Bush, anti-Republican, anti-America, anti-truth, anti-reality and anti-pragmatism.

Psst... Progressive is what communist's call themselves.

I had heard that Brock was once a republican??

I read an interview with him, and he said he was very much a liberal in college until he wrote an article (don't know the subject) and his liberal school paper refused to print it, so he "became a conservative." Shoddy way to become a conservative, but. . . .

He became briefly popular amongst conservatives for his Anita Hill expose and an extensive article in the National Review about Clinton and the Arkansas State Police. In a way, the latter article fueled much of what happened to Clinton. I think it was what caused Paula Jones to go public.

Anyway, he then started working on a Hillary book, and it was shortly after that that he reverted to his liberal ways. I'm not entirely clear on this part of it, but I believe his book turned out to be fairly favorable for Hillary, and thus was not well-received by the right. This angered him, and he jumped ship. I think that's his version. There is speculation--founded or unfounded, I know not--that he fell in love with one of Hillary's staffers, and was encouraged to go left by his new boyfriend.

That's what I remember about it. Hopefully, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I do not know if it needs any correcting. I do recall who is now, and recall the ties you mentioned. He appears to hang on to who ever can give him the good press.

Now, he thinks he is important. A figment of his own imaginaton I suppose.

I think your summary is about right. Brock basically took the money for the Hillary book under false pretenses; the publisher thought he'd be writing a book similar to the Anita Hill one, not a Hillary puff piece.

I knew you were being sarcastic. But the truth is, David Brock, et al will remain silent while moore attempts to have his pack-of-lies video broadcast on Nov 1.
