WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America CEO and President David Brock has written a letter to Sinclair Broadcasting asking the company to cancel its reported plans to force its stations to air the anti-Kerry attack film, "Stolen Honor: Wound That Never Heal," between now and the Nov. 2 presidential election.

"Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes," Brock says. In his letter, Brock warned Sinclair that the plan could constitute a violation of broadcast regulations requiring equal time for political candidates as well as the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. He branded a "charade" the notion that the film could be classified as "news" as a way of getting around those restrictions.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "Stolen Honor" features former POWs accusing Kerry of "worsening their ordeal by prolonging the war." The Times reported that the maker of the film, former Washington Times reporter Carlton Sherwood, tells viewers on the film's website, "Intended or not, Lt. Kerry painted a depraved portrait of Vietnam veterans, literally creating the images of those who served in combat as deranged, drug-addicted psychopaths, baby killers" that has endured for 30 years.

In his letter, Brock wrote, "I don't have to remind you... (that) fourteen of the 62 stations the company either owns or programs are in the key political swing stations of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where the presidential election is being closely fought."

In the 2004 political cycle, according to the Times, Sinclair executives have given nearly $68,000 in political contributions, 97 percent of it going to Republicans. The Center for Responsive Politics ranks Sinclair 12th among top radio and TV station group contributors.

My letter;

I live in Philadelphia and I was hoping it would play in my area. I see that Michael Moore gets taxpayer money everytime he speaks at a college where he gets paid. After Dan Rather showing his bias and the ABC internal memo showing their bias, the NYTimes showing their bias, the Philadelphia Inquirer which just endorsed Kerry and are going to run 21 days of editorials why to vote for Kerry, you have every right to run this movie and I hope you fight on to do it.

Good luck,

What can I say, Brock used to hang out with "real" men (aka Conservatives) but really wanted to wear some high heels with a black thong and push up bra, and his "girlie" men refused his advances 'til he crossed over to the liberal wing,

Isn't Naomi Seligman the same woman at Media Blathers who's been trying to get Rush Limbaugh's single hour per day removed from Armed Forces Radio?

Ah, hypocrisy.

Oh... but, it's okay for Moore to have a three-hour freak-a-thon the night before the election on Pay-Per-View!

I had heard that Brock was once a republican??

He wrote a whole book slamming Anita Hill, then he jumped ship and went to the 'rat party.

Moore is planning an election eve screening of his trashy flick.
But that's okay.
Because.
Anti-Bush and all...</sarcasm>

Media Matters for America:

George Soros

"..On May 3, 2004, CAP launched a new Web site, MediaMatters.org, which specializes in "rapid-response" work. Funded with $2 million from Democrat donors, Media Matters set to work cranking out daily reports that attack with robotic monotony virtually every conservative utterance that finds its way onto the air waves as a "lie" a "smear," a "slander" or a "factual error.".."

David brock is paid very well for this stuff. Notice the date of the startup. With sites like this and IndyMedia all funded by Soros and allies. The average person would think there is a progressive ground swell, when in reality the helots are being stirred up by a bunch of highly paid flacks.

Here's the latest reciepts for the Kerry documentary. Apparently even the party faithful don't want to spend an evening alone with lurch.

I think it's a good idea to e-mail them to show our support for the film.

I went back and read the entire article -- Brock's group is concerned because 97% of his giving was to Republicans. That sounds wonderful. But I must have missed the reference to the Nightline clip. What was that about?

From the post: " He branded a "charade" the notion that the film could be classified as "news" as a way of getting around those restrictions. "

Sure sounds like "news" to me and it is in a timely manner - I mean what would be more important than people getting to know a candidate right before an election -

just my thoughts -

So, how do we counteract his request?

We don't. Sinclair is a staunchly conservative company, and will not fold.

Before he came out of the closet.

He was openly gay prior to leaving the right. I think he was openly gay since at least college. I recall in an interview on C-SPAN how he says he was rather left wing in college at Berkeley before he became a conservative.

A thrashing from Media Matters for America is a ringing endorsement.

How can I get this film? It says it is available for download, and I would like to put my DVD burner to good use. There are lots of people I would love to give a copy, if that is ok with the maker of the film.
