That was a very insinsitive thing for Kerry to say about the terrorists, when they hold him in such high esteem.

He could make a nice little segway into it by his opening comments or in a response to it about homeloand security or the deficit, this must be mentioned during the debate.

Does Kerry know Pakistan has the bomb? That Pakistan is in an almost-war footing with India? Constructive engagement is a wiser course.
Kerry would go unilateral with North Korea like Clinton did. North Korea shined Clinton on and went on about their business, undetered. Bush has multi-lateral talks including regional powers.
Kerry is a MORON.

In one of the debates, I heard one of the Johns say that "The president's own hometown newspaper endorses me." I checked this out today, not trusting any truth to pass the lips of J or J, and found a long dissertation that sounded like Terry McAwful wrote it. What's up with this? Does anyone know why this paper has it out for our pres?

The fact of the matter is that this statement clearly indicates that Kerry is not going to be committed to stamping out terrorism. As long as terrorism is a "nuisance" he'll consider it mission accomplished. Unbelieveable! So what is a "nuisance then? Bill Clinton considered terrorism a nuisance and look where that got us. Does Kerry even understand that it takes just one terrorist to kill thousands of people?
This "nuisance" comment, and his other comment about treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue really underscores the point that Kerry just doesn't get it. He's a threat to national security and yet, there he is running for POTUS. Has the world gone nuts?

A minor correction. if I may:
...but Clinton was acting in ignored a growing threat for 8 years and allowed the terrorists to turn it into a different world.
There, that's better.

He said it!
"When I asked Kerry what it would take for Americans to feel safe again, he displayed a much less apocalyptic worldview. ''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said. ''As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life.'' "

Sen. Kerry realizes that the Duelfer Report completely repudiates his foreign policy. Iraq was never going to comply with the UN resolutions since the sanctions were being systematically destroyed by nations willing to cheat on the oil for food program. Those same nations were never going to help us since they were receiving the largess of Saddam Hussein's bribes. I never felt that the weapons of mass destruction issue was that important anyway. Iraq's shooting at our pilots every day should have provoked a devastating response much sooner than it did. And if we're going to stay in the UN, which I don't support, we have to make sure that resolutions that we propose and are passed are enforced, building a coalition if possible, but going it alone if we have to.

Bush Camp Trying to Portray Kerry as Liberal
The Bush campaign, in a new television ad, accused Kerry of wanting to treat terrorism as a law enforcement problem like gambling and prostitution, seizing on a comment Kerry made to The New York Times Magazine.
"How can Kerry protect us when he doesn't understand the threat?" the ad script asked.
Kerry had told the magazine: "We have to get back to the place where we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance. As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise."

Apparently, also, Ed Gillespie brought it up on one of the morning newstalk programs.

Incredible.
Kerry does not believe in ending terrorism, just making it less of a problem.
Incredible!
