WASHINGTON, Oct 05, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Sen. John Kerry has a 9-point edge over President Bush in the race for president in a national poll of Hispanic voters released Tuesday.

A survey conducted by Opiniones Latinas and The Latino Coalition indicates that Kerry has 47 percent to 38 percent lead over Bush among the 1,000 Hispanics contacted for the poll.

Remember the old Saturday Night Live skit "Quien es mas macho?"

Thanks for doing more justice to the Spanish language than I did in post 19.

That's one of the great thing about freerepublic: collective institutional memory.

Drives the liberals/Dan Rather/etc. crazy!

Yes, I see that Catholic connection as well. My friends also have an appreciation of the tax cuts and child credits they've received. I can only think of one Hispanic friend of very many who is voting for sKerry.

I would think that the hispanic community would be very strong for Bush, considering he is so pro-life.

This is great news.

Many analysts have concluded that the Hispanic electorate is key in the presidential election.

Bush is a real leader, while Kerry is a metrosexual gigolo with zero accomplishments, and only record and plans to weaken the US.

If Bush wins 40% of the Hispanic vote, not only expect AZ, NM, FL in the Republican column, but also expect a close result in California and Oregon.

If this trend continues we might even carry Texas.

---the Hispanic vote about which I am most concerned is that which will originate from falsified voter registrations and absentee ballots, financed by operatives of Moveon.org and its affiliates---

These hispanics are proud americans.

Some of the best people I served with were Hispanics.

I think George P. Bush has a lot to do with this. He is the son of Jeb and his hispanic wife, fluent is spanish and a tireless campaigner for W. Also laying the groundwork for Jeb in '08.

The Buchanan/Tancredo crowd is doing everything they can to alienate the Hispanic vote while also trying to divide the Republican party.

Did you also notice that MSNBC primarily uses Buchannan on it panels as the "republican" My thought is that they are trying to remind Flori-duh about the 00 debacle.

This is very interesting. Bush won about 30% of the Hispanic vote to defeat Al Gore. Kerry is doing much worse. If Bush wins 40% of the Hispanic vote, not only expect AZ, NM, FL in the Republican column, but also expect a close result in California and Oregon. Our Hispanic community admire strong leaders not weak and wobbly candidates like Kerry.

What the gop ought to be doing, if they're not doing it already or plan to, is, during the closing stretch of the campaign, run FULL THROTTLE with ads in swing states/districts in conservative-lying areas, and especially in black and Latino neighborhoods, over John Kerry's liberal positions--particularly hitting hard over gay marriage and pro-abort.

"Thanks for doing more justice to the Spanish language than I did"

Well, I did study it in school for several years. My mom actually had a Master's Degree in Spanish, but she wasn't much help with my studies. Ask her a simple question like "what does this word mean?" and she's start telling you what it meant in the 15th century!

I wish the pubbies would reach out assertively to Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, all minority groups. Not with pandering, but just with an explanation of why their agenda is good for INDIVIDUALS! Ask for the votes!

I know who George P. is and got to meet him once when he was still a child. My mother in law was the nurse for Barbara and President Bush 41's Doctor, for many years. George P. and his mom were in once when I was dropping some tickets off to my MIL. He was a cute and articulate child.
