THIS TIME AROUND, SENATOR, THE SMIRK'S ON YOU
New York Post ^ | October 9, 2004 | ANDREA PEYSER

....Early on, it was Kerry who seemed eager to run for Mommy. An audience member asked how he expected to prevent another terrorist attack, like the one that ripped the heart out of lower Manhattan on 9/11. The slickster seemed momentarily rattled.

...... "This president chose a tax cut over homeland security," Kerry boomed.

"That's an odd thing to say," rejoined Bush. "We tripled homeland security."

And that's when I saw Kerry smirk. It was a subtle tic; Kerry's face never moves much. At that moment it became obvious that sucking up to the French may win Kerry dinner invitations, but the only way to fight terror is to meet it with force. Kerry knew he'd been nailed on this one.

Finally, Bush made a strong case for taking out Saddam Hussein: The Iraqi dictator was looting the Oil For Food program, and planned to get out from under international sanctions — so he might get his weapons programs going again.

Had he not been removed, a few years down the road the world would cry, why did Bush ignore this threat? Bush conceded the decision was unpopular in some quarters — just like his support of Israel — "but it was the right thing to do."

Kerry found his stride with domestic issues, though Bush was right back in his face. Kerry vowed not to raise taxes on people making under $200,000 a year. And if you believe that one, I have some National Guard documents from CBS that I'd love to sell you.

At one point, Kerry declared, "The president is just trying to scare everybody here."

Said Bush, "He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."

Kerry was right. I was scared.

I have now watched the debate 3 times
and each time I see that POTUS bested
his "opponent."

Kerry looked like a scarecrow. Thin, gangly,
arrogant and off balance. The name dropping
has gotten old. Kerry lost big time.

Charley Gibson's choice of a last question was a dirty trick.

Guess Gibson didn't need Halperin's memo, did he?

It was a setup.
An OBVIOUS setup.
Bush hit a grand slam.
He won big time.
Last question boomeranged.

Now ABC is on par with CBS.
I'll bet Sheiffer is damn cautious next week,
unless he gets the word from the CEO to go after
Bush.

FOX was the huge disappointment.
Even Brit Hume.
I am just about finished with
their self-described "fair and balanced."

Sean Hannity is the only voice we have.

That stupid lady gave herself away as a plant just by the way she asked her question, there was no doubt by the look oh her face that she was trying to "knife" President Bush.

What was so great about how President Bush responded was that he let her know he was aware of what she was up to, that is when she really look pissed. The camera never came back to her ugly mug after that.

What a complete looser for Charlie to save that one till last.

No, no, no: the spell check doesn't flag it, and my Merriam-Webster has it spelled that way as well: truffle. Besides, misspellings are typos, usually, aren't they? ;)

How can it!

The whole idea behind Botox is to paralyze the facial muscles to prevent them from wrinkling the skin.

I've seen more expressions at a wax museum.

***"This president chose a tax cut over homeland security," Kerry boomed. ***

That's the sort of statement that liberals love to make. Talk about taking one fact and trying to make it work with another, unrelated fact. Sneaky, snarky nonsequiturs abound with the liberal socialists.

That WTC-I remark by JfK, (1993 or....so) was absolutely absurd. Not only did GW take the wood to that boy-liberal, he had him beating himself with a wooden stick. Gotta Love IT!
That smirkee last questioner (she looked like a leftist educrat) and question pretty much put the nail in JfK' "wooden" coffin. Now he is just another stick-boy-liberal! I think the MSM & stick-boy are about to see the Big MO coming down the track. We just have to keep up the good fight.

I'm glad somebody FINALLY mentioned Israel in a public forum. The Prez brought it up and pretty much called Arafat a thug he wouldn't ever work with him. And, of course, Kerry did NOT want to touch that. That one little instance alone makes me understand even more deeply that Kerry can never be POTUS.

"At one point, Kerry declared, 'The president is just trying to scare everybody here.' "

And Kerry doesn't think he's scaring the youth of this nation by spreading lies about Bush bringing back the draft? What a pompous, self-serving, lying, treasonous ass.

I loved the part (well planned out in advance, I'm sure) where Bush anticipated the "why we're hated in the world" angle and likened his unpopular decisions to Reagan's opposition to Communism.

Brilliant, and very effective.
