THIS TIME AROUND, SENATOR, THE SMIRK'S ON YOU
New York Post ^ | October 9, 2004 | ANDREA PEYSER

Posted on 10/09/2004 12:29:51 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....Early on, it was Kerry who seemed eager to run for Mommy. An audience member asked how he expected to prevent another terrorist attack, like the one that ripped the heart out of lower Manhattan on 9/11. The slickster seemed momentarily rattled.

...... "This president chose a tax cut over homeland security," Kerry boomed.

"That's an odd thing to say," rejoined Bush. "We tripled homeland security."

And that's when I saw Kerry smirk. It was a subtle tic; Kerry's face never moves much. At that moment it became obvious that sucking up to the French may win Kerry dinner invitations, but the only way to fight terror is to meet it with force. Kerry knew he'd been nailed on this one.

Finally, Bush made a strong case for taking out Saddam Hussein: The Iraqi dictator was looting the Oil For Food program, and planned to get out from under international sanctions — so he might get his weapons programs going again.

Had he not been removed, a few years down the road the world would cry, why did Bush ignore this threat? Bush conceded the decision was unpopular in some quarters — just like his support of Israel — "but it was the right thing to do."

Kerry found his stride with domestic issues, though Bush was right back in his face. Kerry vowed not to raise taxes on people making under $200,000 a year. And if you believe that one, I have some National Guard documents from CBS that I'd love to sell you.

At one point, Kerry declared, "The president is just trying to scare everybody here."

Said Bush, "He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."

Kerry was right. I was scared.

Andrea found a good Bush zinger. I'd be scared enough to run for the hills and look for a place to hide my wallet when I heard Kerry pledged not to raise my taxes. Well, here is Dubya's retort:

"Said Bush, "He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."

Next debate, GWB can seal the deal by saying something like, "...well my opponent lurches this way then he lurches that way on an issue..."

I watched the debate but somehow missed this, which is on the Post page, but not above...:

Kerry ran through a brief history of terror in America, including "the World Trade Center bombing of 1993 — or so."

"1993 ...or SO"????????? WOW.

Now that is good honest debate coverage! Too bad most of the media will tell a whole different story! I wonder if America would be so split if the MSM wasn't so bias-you know, if they just reported the facts. Yeah, it's late and I'm dreamin'!

If not for MSM bias I doubt a Democrat could legitimately win the Presidency. Senate races in liberal states, maybe, but not the Presidency.

"Wood? I don't get it..."

The "Wood" line will become even bigger than the "Nod." It was one of the greatest moments in political history. I was rolling on the floor at the time, and I'm still laughing. A brilliant moment for W. For those who don't know what in the sam hill I'm talking about, watch a video of the debate now! Classic.
