....Early on, it was Kerry who seemed eager to run for Mommy. An audience member asked how he expected to prevent another terrorist attack, like the one that ripped the heart out of lower Manhattan on 9/11. The slickster seemed momentarily rattled.
...... "This president chose a tax cut over homeland security," Kerry boomed.
"That's an odd thing to say," rejoined Bush. "We tripled homeland security."
And that's when I saw Kerry smirk. It was a subtle tic; Kerry's face never moves much. At that moment it became obvious that sucking up to the French may win Kerry dinner invitations, but the only way to fight terror is to meet it with force. Kerry knew he'd been nailed on this one.
Finally, Bush made a strong case for taking out Saddam Hussein: The Iraqi dictator was looting the Oil For Food program, and planned to get out from under international sanctions so he might get his weapons programs going again.
Had he not been removed, a few years down the road the world would cry, why did Bush ignore this threat? Bush conceded the decision was unpopular in some quarters just like his support of Israel "but it was the right thing to do."
Kerry found his stride with domestic issues, though Bush was right back in his face. Kerry vowed not to raise taxes on people making under $200,000 a year. And if you believe that one, I have some National Guard documents from CBS that I'd love to sell you.
At one point, Kerry declared, "The president is just trying to scare everybody here."
Said Bush, "He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."
Kerry was right. I was scared.

President George W. Bush clears cedar at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, Friday, Aug. 9, 2002.
Dubbya is a badass! hehe!
Kerry accused President Bush of owning a lumber company and a reason he is weak on the environment.
President Bush acted surprised and unaware he owned said company and asked everyone if they wanted to buy some wood.
What was so classic about that whole thing is Bush got up good naturedly and said,
"I own a lumber company?"..."hehe..."..."Thats news to me"...
Then a long pause he goes up to the edge of the audience and almost whispers to one of the people there, "Need some wood?"...It was hilarious and even Kerry chortled a bit (probably to save face that this may have been his jump-the-shark-al-gore-walked-into-Bushs-space-poop-in-his-pants-moment in 200 debate)
"1993, or so. Bombed, or whatever. World Trade Center, or some-such place. Does it really matter?"
That would have been the full quote, if he'd had more time.
"He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."
I think GW brought the wood and hammered Kerry over the head with it... Kerry is a loser... if he becomes president the US will become a failure...just like his policies...
"Said Bush, He's going to tax everybody here. That's what liberals do."
Did you see Kerry try to wiggle his lying @$$ out from under "that label"??? That was beautiful!!
President Bush came to PLAY last night!! The DNC can try all their spin and look at all the online polls they want, but what he was doiing is a great line from a Charlie Daniels song..."The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat...." HAHAHAHAHA
You vastly underestimate the power of the MSM. If the MSM played it straight, both parties would shift 25% - 30% to the right and Bush would be an acceptable candidate for the 'Rats. Freepers and similar sorts would be the mainstream of the 'Pubby party. We'd have the kind of Supreme Court that would give conservatives wet dreams.
I had walked into the othe run when I thought I had heard Kerry say, "1993 or so...". It sort of registered in the back of my mind as "Did he just say 1993 or so?" This coming from a guy from a city (Boston), which still collectively feels somewhat guilty over 9/11. I would think it would be an event 'seared' into his memory.
I loved the line where sKerry said I can tell no one here makes more than $200K...this smuck is toast...
Exactly... The mind set of Terrorist appeasement... The fact that he cares little to know that AL-Quida agents attacked this country on February 26, 1993 the first time SAYS THAT HE FAILS TO REALIZE THE THREAT AND THE LESSONS LEARNED OF 911.... I bet he still thinks its the emergency response number...
If Bush had insinuated that the audience were all losers the MSM would be running down the income of every one in that room right now to show how out of touch he was. There were probably at least 10 or 20 in the audience that make more than $200K. $200K is no great shakes these days.
When you look at those pictures of W. hauling branches, the thing which dawns on you is that you've never seen a picture of Kerry doing any sort of a normal American or middle-class thing. Pictures of the gigolo always show him yachting, shooting skeets, or leading a truffle pig on a leash or some such.
"leading a truffle pig"...LMAO
You gave me the first smile of the morning. What an aristocratic image...and soaked with irony. LOL!
I'm a city boy these days, but in the last few years I've found a great deal of pleasure in clearing brush on my Aunt's property. You start with a tangled, imposing, wicked mess, and when you're done you have a nice clean open area. It's a tremendous surrogate for the problems that don't have such... not easy, but satisfying conclusions.
Plus you get to play with chain saws and other fun implements, git re-al dirty, and get a lot of exercise.
Kerry said he clears brush too, he just doesn't have pictures of it. Ha ha ha.
I might have misspelled that, i.e. it might be 'trouffle' or some such.
