Dear Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that we can come before Your Holy throne, as Sovereign God and Ruler over all, and bring before You our prayers and petitions.

Today we bring before You, our President, and Your servant, George W. Bush, and lift him up in prayer for the debate tonight. We pray that this day, he is filled with Your Holy Spirit in power and in love, that he is able to spend much time in prayer and in study of Your word in preparation for tonight, that he be granted peace and calm in the face of an evil enemy who has no qualms about lying and distorting the truth.

We pray that President Bush sense Your presence all day today, and know that he is being surrounded by angels and lifted up in prayer by thousands upon thousands. We pray that he be humble before You and that You keep him from any pride or self-aggrandizement, but recognize that every gift he has is from You, dear Lord. We pray that the Spirit of the Living God would fall upon him anew; that You would melt him, mold him, fill him and use him for Your glory, dear Father. Help him to be able to clearly articulate the strength and wisdom of the positions he has taken, and help the American people to see the truth of what he says, and see the goodness in his heart.

Bless Laura and the girls, Lord, and grant them peace of mind as well. Protect them all from those who would do them harm, and grant them abundant blessing in their lives.

We continue to pray for our military, especially serving in harm's way, that You would protect them from harm, and give them comfort. We pray as well for our nation, that we might turn from our wicked ways so that this land might be healed. We thank You that You have given us a leader who does pray, and we ask that You might continue to use President Bush to lead us back to righteousness and Your laws. In the strong name of Jesus, who is the Christ, I pray, Amen!

Dear Ohio,
Allow me to introduce myself. I joined FR as a poster back in April but prior to that I lurked on the daily dose for nearly a year. I feel as I almost know you and Eric. I cried tears of joy at your pictures when Eric returned home safely from Iraq because I followed your posts and prayed for him often. I find much faith and solace in your posts. Anyway, my point is ... hello ... and your life has touched mine. I haven't been to the dose much as I have been so busy following all of these live threads with the election heating up! I have yet to post on the dose, but I will.
I am very thankful for this thread of prayer for our President. What a beautiful prayer you have posted and I plan to repeat it today several times, plus a few of my own, however, my words aren't so eloquent!
I am so glad there will be a prayer thread for tonight. I trust my President but he surely needs the prayer and grace and mercy of our Lord.

As I was reading the Psalms a couple months ago, these words seem to jump out at me as especially appropo to pray for our President.

Psalm 5:8-12

8 O Lord, lead me in thy righeousness because of my foes:
Make my way straight before me.

9 There is nothing reliable in what they say;
Their inward part is destruction itself;
Their mouth is an open grave;
They flatter with their tongue.

10 Hold them guilty, O God;
By their own devices let them fall!

Lord, Please give perfect comfort to President Bush today and tonight. Give him accurate and effective words. Lord, protect him from distraction and keep his mind steadfast on You. Lord - I ask that you give him clarity of thought.

Lord God - I ask that give President Bush powerful words that shed Truth and Light on the hearts of those who witness the power of Man of Truth - Jesus Christ! I ask, Father, that the President will reveal his purpose, his goals, and his plan for our nation, but mostly - I ask that his purpose, goal, and plan will be YOURS only.

I am born-again believer in Christ here in the "land of the fruits and the nuts" of California. We have a lot of Christians actively involved on behalf of President Bush--but not nearly enough as we need to make much of a difference in the Golden State (though there's still time for all of that to change, too).

All of the posts here are TERRIFIC! God bless everyone of you folks for having the foresight to "PRAY as if everything depends on God; WORK as if everything depended on us!"

I have been faithfully praying and praying and praying exactly what all you good folks have posted here. I don't agree with the current Administration's immigration policies or out-of-control spending, but I have no doubt that "W" has a heart for the Lord and deserves the support of ALL those in the nation who profess Christ as King.

Sadly, though, I'm still running into self-proclaimed Christians who are not only registered Democrats, but are having a "difficult time" deciding whom to vote for this time around (the first question I ask them here is always whether or not they've actually taken the time to compare the Dems' official platform to that of the GOP--most of the time, they tell me they haven't).

Keep the prayers going up, up, up, folks throughout the day!

PRAYER DOES WORK! I've seen it in my own little life (not enough space here to explain exactly why I believe this).

Folks, from all that I've read and heard (from all kinds of news sources and legitimate Internet sites), this could turn out to be very, very stressful and most difficult especially AFTER Nov. 2. Keep the prayers going throughout this period, too.

Anyway, I appreciate knowing that my wife, six-year-old daugther and I will not be alone in supporting "W" througout the day and, especially, tonight.

We thank you for hearing our prayers. We pray that You give President Bush wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment. Guide his every word and call to remembrance the things You would have him say. Help him to clarify his decisions, like decisions he made to protect the American people. Help him to explain with heartfelt words that only You knew the truth, and everyone else, including Kerry, believed Saddam was a serious threat, and as president he had protect us. When the president is attacked as misleading, lying... we ask YOU to give him words that would shock Kerry quiet. When the president is attacked for taking out Saddam remind the president your words:
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.
