BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A video released by Muslim militants on Friday showed them beheading British hostage Kenneth Bigley, a Reuters witness said.
Bigley was shown making a statement as six militants stood behind him, before one cut his head off with a knife.
Guerrilla sources in the rebel-held city of Falluja said earlier that he was killed on Thursday afternoon in Latifiya, a Sunni Muslim town southwest of Baghdad.
The tape showed Bigley wearing an orange jump suit of the type worn by detainees in U.S. prisons including the detention center at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
They filmed it again. Bastards.
Rest in Peace, Sir.
Just a little help for kerry on debate day--from his friends and allies in Iraq.
Wait a minute...
A Reuters witness?!?
A REUTERS FREAKIN' WITNESS!!!
Reuters is sending correspondents to beheadings now?
Ditto!
How heart breaking.
This man had an additional TWO weeks or so to dwell on his obvious fate. He also witnessed the other two Americans being beheaded.
May he be in heaven.
I am very sorry to hear about this.
It's not worded well but it looks like a roto rotor person witnessed the video not the actual beheading.
>>Reuters is sending correspondents to beheadings now?
no, the Reuters witness saw the video, not the beheading.
I think they mean that they are relying on a witness' description of the video.
"Cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires to generators and turned up the power..."
It looks like the terrorists in Iraq are only paying America back for what Kerry testified that Americans did in Vietnam (which was a lie).
Islam. The religion of peace.
Hopefully he will be reunited with his brother, soon.
"Guerrilla sources in the rebel-held city of Falluja said earlier that he was killed on Thursday afternoon in Latifiya, a Sunni Muslim town southwest of Baghdad."
WHY don't they bomb the hell out of this place?
If Abdul will pray, to a glowing crater.
"generators"???
Genitals -- slight hardware difference there...
I don't mean to sound callous...And I know this will, but people who go to Iraq know what the risks are.
I hate seeing the parents of soldiers killed in the war dishonoring the memories of their children by turning on the government. Their kids knew when they joined the military that they could be called upon to risk thier lives in the interest of a (usually) grateful nation.
This guy and his family did more to undermine Tony Blair and his government's decsision to help the U.S. rid the world of Saddam Hussein than just about any other single event since the conflict began.
Nobody knows what they will do when faced with their own brutal murder, but I would hope most would maintain an iota more dignity than this guy and his family back home did.
Reminded me of the Nick Berg thing...Now Bigley's family just like the Berg family will use the tragic death of a family member that was not forced to go to Iraq as a tool to affect their nation's political process.
Just in time for the debate.
Perhaps if a neighborhood was destroyed each time there was a beheading, they might think twice? But thinking is not a strong point of the islamics.
