Good Place For Conservatives to LIve

Posted on 10/07/2004 6:02:34 PM PDT by OXM_1962

I hate living in western Oregon and am seriously contemplating moving to another part of the country.

I prefer more sunshine, less cloudy days and a conservative majority.

Any advice is kindly regarded.

I moved to Georgia from California. I love it here. Polls have
Dubya at 60%. :)

You got that right. Santa Fe, Galisteo, Tesuque, etc. are infested with educated people. Whack jobs, I call them. Opera, art and liberal politics. Rest of NM is not so bad, though.

Yep. That's exactly what it is in those areas. The southern and south eastern part of the state is usually a little more conservative. It seems like the Hispanic folks are more likely to be RATS. My favorite place is up around Farmington. It's pretty conservative and it's a beautiful place to live.

Try Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Great lake, quiet, good housing and low cost of living.

And an awesome outlet mall in Osage Beach--necessary if you need large shoes. :)

Gainesville is beautiful - at least the suburbs around the lake....not a bad choice; not bad at all.

You mean Georgia, not Florida, correct? If so, I'd agree with that. I'm an ATL native living in NYC. ACK!

IHMO ??

What are housing costs like? Being so close to San Antonio, is it becoming a booming suburb?

I think heaven could be the geography and seasons of Maryland, with the culture/people of Texas.

With that said, you pay a high price to be here. My congressman is...elijah cummings

I do think of moving to Texas from time to time. If Kerry wins or this country doesn't get more serious about terror, it won't be safe to live around here in 10-20 years IMO. Very sad.

I live in Cedar Park, which is in the suburbs of Austin. We get to enjoy Austin, without having to live in Austin. The Texas Hill Country is the best region in the State.

Virginia! In the Roanoke Valley to be precise.

Fish at Smith Mountain Lake one day, Claytor Lake the next, then fish the James River the following one and New River after that, Then fill the rest of the week with the local trout streams.

BTW, prayer is a local call there... ' cause it's God's country!

Dallas, Texas has a lot to offer. Economically and Socially it's diverse, but usually goes conservative in total. Great food, good sports and year-round fun things to do. You fly anywhere else cheap from here for the occassional beach, mountains or family needs.

"...I'm not telling people about this wonderful place... want to keep it small and beautiful..."

Small and beautiful? Where did you come from, central Los Angeles? Sheesh. I lived in that area for more years than I care to remember. Thought I'd never get out. If it hadn't been for living in Manitou, I'd have gone completely bonkers. I gotta say though, the political landscape there is a darned sight better than here.

NB - very expensive - anything hinting of the Hill Country of Texas is expensive. Shoot, you should see Boerne (pronounced "Bernie") - it's grown like mad and the prices are out of site for real land. Of course, the Hill Country is one of the prettiest parts of Texas. But, I'm kinda partial to the Hill Country.

I live in the suburbs which used to be conservative F**** Californians.

As they use to say when I lived in Denver (many years ago) "Don't Californicate Colorado"!
Unfortunately they did ...

Spent some time in Green Bay last month; nothing trendy or flashy, but the folks all seemed very nice, and living there certainly crossed my mind. Seemed peaceful and quiet, but not too small; the Packers surely provide a great sense of community, and they can't move!

Yes, there is; the "Right to Keep and Bear Arms."

I've run across the "Road-Killed Beeber Association" during my travels through the wonderful land of FReep.

Their leader, King Prout, is a most honorable and gallant gentleman. Perhaps someday I may be honored to be able to call him and many of his associates friends.

A lot of folks like Precsott, AZ

or Cottonwood AZ between Flagstaff and Prescott.

Some like Las Cruces NM.

Probably Utah has more conservatives per acre than most States.

But then, are the world change characters right? Will Phoenix be a seaport and Denver almost one?

Then there's the hoards of Mexicans slated, supposedly, to come across the boarders with hoards of Chinese Army folks with guns to take over the West and especially the Southwest.

Goodness. God only knows.

I'm just eager to get back to Taipei to again be able to Love Chinese students into God's Kingdom and anticipate losing my life for The Lord given probable earth events.

Otherwise, Farmington, NM is a great place strategic attack-wise. Mountains not too far.

Silverton and Bayfield Colo are neat places. Silverton in a very high mountain valley deep amidst mountain peaks. About 300 population in a cold winter. Snow. Tourists in summer. Probably more liberal than you'd like.

The AZ and NM border has some great small towns according to some.

Right now I live at Albuquerque but hope to move to rural west Texas before I get too old and feeble. It's tough though to get my wife away from our two grandbabies at Albuquerque. Me too I guess.

I LOVE Albuquerque. I've lived there 3 times. I just moved back to the family ranch a couple of years ago, but I sure do miss it. I was living down in Corrales. I still go into the city at least once a month to go shopping. I definitely KNOW how to shop. I'm a power shopper and I have to get it all done in a couple of days. LOL It's a great city to live in.

You can't leave your grandbabies and move off to TX. They would be heartbroken. Sounds like you and your wife would be too. Besides, you would be moving right into "tornado alley." 8-)
