(IsraelNN.com) An explosion occurred a short time ago in the Taba Hilton, on the Egyptian side of the border. According preliminary reports from Magen David Adom emergency medical service officials, the cause of the blast was a gas tank.
There are unconfirmed reports of dozens of injured. The IDF has already ordered helicopters into the air and MDA is mobilizing to treat the many wounded in the blast. Details to follow as they become available.
Thanks for reminding me.
Egypt isnt as clear as the driven snow by any stretch of the imagination. Especially when the Egyptian mullahs are some of the worst hate inciters in the known world.
My Arabic-speaking wife just informed me that Ras al-Satan means "head of Satan" in Arabic. Wierd, huh?
I did. I addressed the reason for the vitriol even as it relates to islamic history.
There are fears that the Egyptians are going to attack the Israelis that are in Sinai!
That's a whole other issue. It's worth remembering that our aid to Egypt, now military but originally economic to prevent those mullahs from arising, is tied to the treaty, or which we're a party. Just as military aid to Israel is, based on a promise to maintain military superiority in the face of the strategic disadvantage or returning the Sinai a second time.
I won't even mention the economic value of the Sinai. Israel should have kept it. Carter would have been happy giving away one canal.
I believe he is, but I know Al Zawahiri of Al Qaeda is.
Al Zawahiri helped assassinate Sadat and headed up the Egyptian Islamic Jihad.
Given the geography and mobilization capabilities involved, they'll be lots of dead Egyptians.
BTW, they could be that stupid. Where did you see that?
Another Carter legacy we have to correct, as usual.
Worst President we ever had.
JPost.com is reporting the Egyptian Army is cutting off the Sinai....
Yonif gives better news than our WHOLE TV media!!!!!!!
I am not seeing anything on our news!
This is all I have!
besides the obvious sentiments I have for the scorpions who commited this slaughter..
I do have a question for the Israeli, the Jew or any Westerener of sound mind who sets foot on Egyptian or any other arab soil....WTF? WTF were you thinking...
I dont care how "nice the resort is", that country is at war with you, whether you recognize it or not, now grwo some f'ing backbonce, reattach your manhood and dignity and dont spend one red agurot on their putrid alnd.
we Jews are indeed the craziest bunch out there, we NEVER learn. some of us anyway.
4 more years, yes indeed.
Yonif, you are a much better reporter than the MSM.
Every time something happens in Israel, I look for your posts.
Thanks so very much for sharing your knowledge and insights.
What an asset you are!
You and your countrymen are in my prayers.
The IDF General Staff has convened for an emergency assessment in Tel Aviv as the Operations Directorate has set up a war room to deal with the terror attacks in the Sinai.
Military sources said that despite the attacks in Taba and Nuweiba, the level of alert along the Egyptian border was not heightened.
They said that the focus of efforts at the moment was ferrying special Home Front rescue workers down to the scene of the attacks on IAF aircraft.
The relations with the Egyptians is not at all smooth and special efforts were being made by liaison officers to allow uniformed rescue workers into Egyptian territory.
The Egyptians in the past have vehemently opposed such steps, but it appears they will be more forthcoming due to the severity of the present emergency.
As for the rest, I completely agree with you. Worldwide, moderate Muslims need to engage with more than the current vague negative rhetoric; otherwise, it's clear the 'fighting faith' you reference is indeed the head and they are at best the tail.
On the Egypt-specific political side, I read somewhere that a guy named Omar Suleiman was head of their army and a possible candidate to succeed the president. (Did quick Google search and found more here. It says he has an interest in promoting ties with Israel, which I found interesting, given his military background. They are also drawing closer to China, at least from an economic standpoint, which is unsettling.
I agree totally.
Besides the obvious fact ( now proven) that you are treated in a subhuman fashion when you are injured on their soil and in need of immediate help.
Instead they send in the Army, close the Suez, and fire over the heads of people trying to come back home who are probably injured or scared to death.
Not one friggin penny.
However, Egyptian officials said they had no evidence of terrorism.
That's a believable statement. Hardeehar.
