Tom McClintock will run for Lt. Governor in 2006

Hey guys. I got an e-mail message from Tom McClintock himself. I e-mailed Mr. McClintock a couple of days ago and to my amazement, he e-mailed me and said this:

Hi Richard,

It will please you to know that I have already filed my initial paperwork to run for Lt. Governor in 2006. I would not be in this position today without the support from people like you who truly believed in my message during the recall election. I look forward to the coming campaign.

Thanks for all your help.

Tom

Isn't McClintock running for re-election the State Senate this year? Why announce your candidacy for another office when you're still running for the one you're in?

Agreed. It was terribly stupid of him to say anything about it.

I'm not that familiar with California politics, but wouldn't he run on the ticket with the governor? If not, would Arnold be running for governor, and McClintock lt. gov?

"I'm not that familiar with California politics, but wouldn't he run on the ticket with the governor?"

Not in CA. Governor and Lt. Governor are separate offices. It has happened that they were of different parties....in fact, that's the case right now.

In California you vote separately for Gov. and Lt. Gov.

Several times, as now, they have been of different parties.

Good, but Tom will be attacked by neo-con, open borders, cheap labor republicans in this state as he was when he ran against the pervert actor who occupies the Governor's mansion today. These new age republicans want someone who is in touch with the fruits and nuts in Caleeeefornia. More importantly, the state party chair is more open borders than the most radical immigration advocates in our state. I will never vote for any republican again unless he states outright that he wants to shut the border down. I will not compromise, it is up to the republican party to come back to its base and for them to compromise with us rather than with liberals and those who depend on illegal alien labor for their continued fabulous wealth. They will not convince me to give my country to Mexico or send my job to China. Now I am worked up and angry. If 10% of us were, instead of unconditionally supporting "the party," I wonder what their positions would be like?

Good question. What party? I hope Independent because in all good conscience, I cannot support the new-age, open borders republican party in California, but I would vote for Tom regardless of party. I hope he takes alot of conservatives with him, because the party does not deserve their support anymore.

They'd move further to the left.
