Hello,
If I remember correctly, there had been a construction project at the school over summer break. During that time, the terrorists hid weapons within the school that were then used in the siege.
I paid close attention to that aspect of the story, as my son's school had a construction project that started in the summer and continues now. I attended the first Parent Teacher Group Meeting, and I was not the only parent that was concerned about the need to examine closely the security of the school.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

Suppose there were any illegal aliens working on that school construction project?

FWIW,
There was a construction project going on at the WTC before the 9/11 incident also.

Isn't it usual for schools to do construction projects in the summer? The school across the street from me did construction this summer as did a few other schools.

Schools all across our country are always involved in construction projects. When the libs are wasting our tax money on actual education benefits they are constantly dumping money into mostly unnecessary "face-lifts" of the buildings.
Since they can't always come up with valid ways to spend the excess budgets, they find they can hide the money in construction until they come up with more waste.
The motto - don't ever end up with left-over funds - you might get lose the funds - spent it, whatever it takes
