Despite what the New York Times says (I guess they didn't bother to read the report) the Iraqi Intelligence Service (ISS) maintained a biological and chemical weapons program during the 1990's and early 2000's. The weapons were tested on humans. The obvious implication, which the report does not mention, is that these weapons would have been ideally suited to the needs of terrorists. Oddly, the report concludes that there was "no evidence" that these programs were for "military use." Such an absurd parsing is contradicted by the evidence listed; apparently, intelligence operations are not "military" in character. The Key Findings are summarized in a 20 page report provided at the link. It's a pdf, so it may load slowly. Read the entire thing.

Interviews with key IIS offi cials within and outside of M16 yielded very little information about the IIS activities in this area. Murder a few, the rest shut up.

Well, one source said they don't, another says they do.
My gut says they do, and I'm trusting my gut.

The weapons were tested on humans.Somehow, i'm guessing these tests didn't exactly meet the ethical or procedural standards of an FDA Phase II clinical trial.

Lots to bookmark today! WHeee!
As a side note, does ANYONE need any more evidence of liberal bias in the media, after the events of even just today?!? ALL the media is shouting "No WMD's No WMD's, Bush Lied People died!", all the while IGNORING all of this OTHER stuff! Cripes, it's like the old saying, "I used to have to walk to school uphill, both ways!", dealing with the media in this country! Sheesh!

Under the aegis of the intelligence service, a secretive team developed assassination instruments using poisons or toxins for the Iraqi state. A small group of scientists, doctors and technicians conducted secret experiments on human beings, resulting in their deaths. The aim was probably the development of poisons, including ricin and afl atoxin to eliminate or debilitate the Regimes opponents. It appears that testing on humans continued until the mid 1990s.
That's strange. The SD Union Tribune today told me on its front page this morning that
NO IRAQI WMD since 1991. A UN Weapons Inspector says so, so it must be true.
It seems testing biological "toxins" on humans isn't considered WMD because... they didn't shoot missiles at them to test it?
Oh, one other question? Does this mean the Democrats will shut up about how we didn't find any WMD yet in Iraq (which we have) because Clinton "must've destroyed them in the bombings in 1998"? After all, if Saddam destroyed his own weapons in 1991, I guess Clinton really did bomb an aspirin factory and a baby formula factory.
