More on Leatherman Tools endorsing Kerry
none | today | Republican Extremist

Posted on 10/06/2004 7:17:33 PM PDT by Republican Extremist

Regarding this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1231976/posts, where I outlined Leatherman Tools support of the treasonous John Kerry, I received this e-mail from them today:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I assure you I have personally read your e-mail. However, due to the volume of messages received, I cannot give a personalized response to each to you.

However, here in a nutshell is a general response:

Because I publicly stated how I am going to cast my vote, almost all of you have threatened a boycott against my company.

So be it.

I took a position, and now I will accept the consequences.

I am still going to do my absolute best to make great tools and hope that you and all Americans, of every political affiliation, will find them of value. If not today, someday. Tim Leatherman President Leatherman Tool Group, Inc.

Then, sir, you are miles ahead of the Dixie Chicks.

Gerber products carry either a Limited Lifetime warranty or One Year Warranty. When you buy a Gerber, you're not just buying a knife. you're buying a legend.

As if John Kerry has ever even used a Leatherman.

Unless they make a version for girls that includes a nail file and a travel mirror.

Sounds like Leatherman forgot outdoorsmen were conservatives. Never bought Leatherman products, never will.

Gerbers are what American soldiers use. Before hubby got sent to Iraq, every soldier in the brigade was issued a Gerber. That alone is a positive for that brand.

I can live with his views and his vote for Kerry. The Army is issuing leatherman tools to every soldier deploying to Iraq so I guess this makes him a war profiteer.

I won't necessarily boycot leatherman tools. I'll try to find another product that is similiar and if the choice is similiar in quality and price I'll buy the alternative.

You play, you pay.

I carry a Leatherman Wave on my belt at all times. It is the last Leatherman I will thus carry. I start shopping for a new tool tomorrow.

This guy tried to used his position to influence other voters. I have no sympathy for him - if his business dries up, maybe Kerry or Soros can put in a big order.

I always loved The Leatherman, they did a rendition of "You Are My Special Angel" that had fantastic harmony. Oh that was the Letterman...never mind

I'm mailing mine back with a note explaining why. I like Gerber stuff better anyway.

I'm going to give mine away, so that they'll lose a potential sale. An e-mail will be on its way momentarily.

Time to check out the knife websites. Good thing I have 'em bookmarked. ;-)

The company made a huge profit from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Before a certain division deployed in 2002-2003, you couldn't find a Leatherman or Gerber in southeast Georgia. They had all been sold to deploying troops!

A multi-tool was hanging somewhere on the body of just about every GI that helped take down Hussein.

I think Gerbers a better-made, anyway, so no real loss for me or for the war-effort.

My leatherman rusted and I have just let it go. I think now I will take advantage of the warranty.

Thanks for the thread.

whats interesting is leatherman is right by PDX which is a stones throw from the Al Queda who were taking target practice in a quarry across the Columbia a few years ago.

Mr. Leatherman may make a good product, but his political decisions lack.

He owes that contract to Bush since most likely Kerry voted against it.
