HAndcuffing is definately merited, and probably dept. policy.

The police have a policy to handcuff anyone they take into custody BuT be serious.

I think the age of abortion should be raised to 21.
Just think how convenient it would for the mother to tell her child "Clean up the house you little bleep or I will abort you".:)

We had a kid that turned 16 in sixth grade, then he was allowed to quit school.

>>>I think the age of abortion should be raised to 21.

Why stop at 21? Every woman should have the right to a retroactive abortion no matter the age of the fetus... (/sarcasm)

Maybe handcuffing an eight year old will have an affect and he won't end up in jail later. Sometimes scaring them does the trick. The police can't afford NOT to be taken seriously.

"you do not handcuff an 8 year old."

You would if his heighth figures were reversed and instead of being 4' 10", they meant to say 10' 4".

The NOOSE for the cops who handcuffed an 8 year old.

I would add whoever called the police on this in the noose also. had to be a nomination for the WIMP of the YEAR Award.

We really need to put these people (??) out of their own misery.

When I was working for the public school system, I was given a black eye by a first grader. I still think I could have taken him, if it had been a fair fight. He sucker punched me.

----"city policy requires officers to handcuff juveniles when taking them to the county's Juvenile Assessment Center.

They did what they were required to do.

"He just needs a good talking-to," Garner said.

Garner is the attorney. I think the kid needs more than a good talking to. I see it was the mother who brought this to the press. No comment from the father??

"He just needs a good talking-to," Garner said. "This doesn't need to be handled in the judicial system."

BS He needs to be scared straight. Don't screw it up for him, counselor.

Why do I have the feeling this 8 year old won't scare easily? Have you seen the behavior of some of the kids this age? You wouldn't want to be in a squad car with them.

It's interesting that a parent can be arrested as a child abuser for administering corporal punishment at home but the cops can slap on the handcuffs and that's ok. A little well directed, measured dicipline at home would prevent these types of embarassing controversies.

The NOOSE for the cops who handcuffed an 8 year old.

Unless you have worked with violent children, you are have no idea what you are saying. A mentally unstable boy can become a danger to everyone involved in trying to calm a situation. I have had a 6 year old pick up a desk over his head and charge at me full steam. Seen a 9 year old kick out a glass door on a school bus. Others biting, hiting, kicking, scratching, at anyone in the room. There are times that only restraing, yes with handcuffs if available, can work until the child regains composure.

Then suddenly, the kid might "come to" and be perfectly calm and sweet. There are plenty of kids that suffer from true psychological problems.

Don't be too quick to judge the cops. They may have been protecting other students and even the kid himself with those cuffs.

First of all, I wouldn't have my child in a situation
where I didn't know the people he was with or else I
would be there for him. Secondly, what total nonsense to arrest this boy for fighting! If one what arrested then the other should be too. Who's to say who was at fault?

Boys have been fighting for centuries,it's what they do.
God help us, our society has turned into a bunch of idiots and trash.

IF!? there were such a kid that a (trained supposedly) grown adult would be so afraid of - what the hell is he doing in school?

He should be in an insane-asylum (oops I forgot, Geraldo got all those closed down and the inmate crazies all released)

You have two choices with animals that are that dangerous - one is to let them live.

Or is there another story? More like stupid, lazy, introverted, wimpy, pukes that vote democrat or RINO.

I tend to believe this last.
