"Trying to swing the election toward Kerry.

Why else would he bring this up,
less than 30 days BEFORE the election."

Tonk, is that what you think I'm doing as well? Reality is here to bite us hard, if we don't wake up to this invasion. Bush has betrayed his base by insisting on this insanity.

Take a breath, Tonk. We want the same thing and yes, I'll vote for Bush. I will not defend him when he's wrong. That would make us no better than the folks at DU who defend the indefensible.

Rush had no business taking this up this close to the election.

We don't need FReepers attacking Bush now.

Kerry is the dog that needs to be kicked right now.

I'm not taking the risk to "take a breath"

EVERY minute counts from now till Nov 2

Taking this traitor Kerry out is ALL that matters.

EVERYTHING else can wait till after Nov 2

As far as being greedy goes, the entire Democrat Party position of wealth redistribution is based on greed. How else to explain taking resources from one group and promising them to another in return for votes?

Oh, I agree, the 'Rats are indeed greedy, they want power in exchange for this barter. However, I believe they are taking advantage of seeds planted by Republicans (I like to call them "country club Republicans"), who leave these doors of opportunity for Dem's to sucker working class stiffs open. I've worked for both hardcore R's and moderate D's, and I'll be honest, I'd rather work for the moderate D anyday. The R's I've worked for would work me like a slave, and it was a constant battle to get any kind of money out of them.

I'm not talking about wealth redistribution, I'm talking about The Golden Rule (Do unto others, etc.). A lot of the socialist policies of this century began with FDR, who gained support because of such things as lack of basic safety procedures and unsafe conditions at workplaces (massive fire at a factory in New York, I believe it was, killed many people unnecessarily, FDR rode for all it was worth). And, as bad as unions stink today, I do believe we'd be working 7 days a week if they hadn't been around. The Repub's I'm referring to (not all by any means) will hold your need to make a living over your head, and take excessive advantage of it. This is not consistent with Christianity (the workman is worth his wage), and the backlash of all of this is what we have today: Communists masquerading as Democrats, greedy pigs masquerading as Republicans. The sad part is, the vast majority of Americans live by the Golden Rule, and suffer from the lousy policies of both. Illegal immigration is an example of both sides supporting the same evil for different reasons. It doesn't matter why, it's still evil, and the country is going to suffer terribly from it one day.

“So he is holding a head, the head of a Serb that he cut off. So those are the 20,000 Mujahedin that were brought to the European theatre of war through Clinton's policy, and most of them remained there and some went to America and to other countries, and they went all around Europe. And then when they start beheading your own people in wars to come, then you will know what this is all about." Milosevic quote from internat'l court transcript: http://www.un.org/icty/transe54/020927ED.htm Scroll down to Page 10307, beginning with line 23.

Thanks for that link, I had heard Milosevic had said that, but it wasn't sourced before. Very interesting quote.

"

Tonk, Rush , I and others have brought this up now because of the response of the White House a couple days ago to the House Republicans ordering them to drop any legislation on the homeland security bills to require illegals to not get Dr. license, etc. Check it out. So, who started it at such a bad time?

Well, I think my friends are probably pretty equally divided between Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals. I haven't noticed that the Republicans were tougher on their employees. The ones that belong to country clubs seem as likely to be Dems as Republicans, but the Republican country club members whom I know are very good to their employees.

I don't belong to a country club, but don't see such a membership in one as a reason for looking down on someone.

It's true that the Republican Party is labeled by the Left the party of the rich, but to me that is a false label and always has been. Not that I see a problem with acknowledging that rich folks are also entitled to freedom and liberty. IMO, progressive taxation is as harmful to the poor as it is to the wealthy, perhaps more so.

As a few other Catholic freepers will tell you, the stats do not bear this out. While most of the Mexican immigrants are nominally Catholic, church attendence rates among them are lower than whites, somthing on the order of 10-15% of Catholics attend mass on a weekly basis in Mexico. Many Catholic Bishops sad to say are stuck in the 60s, but more Hispanic immigrants will not help the church, hence the low ordination rates in many diocese with the largest hispanic populations.

The growth of the church in Latin America has stagnated as well. Liberation Theology and inculturizations have done a very large amount of damage that will take generations to fix.

A lot of republicans have been too "polite" to talk about these issues and their "politeness" is destroying our freedom.

That may be true, but even if only 10 percent of the newcomers go to church, that still means more people in the pews than before the immigrants arrived. Call me a cynic, but I can't help but think there's a link between that growth opportunity and the Catholic bishops' pro-immigration stance.

People always underestimate the importance of geography and demographics in developing their political ideas, understanding past events, or predicting probable outcomes. This is one of the reasons Michael Barone is one of the best talking heads on tv--he's a demographics expert.

I am absolutely terrified of the impact illegal immigration and unchecked voter registration/fraud are going to have on this election. What's wrong with proving you're a citizen before you register to vote? What's so threatening about showing an ID when you vote? After all, much more is required to fly in a plane.

BTW, the more someone understands about the age demographics and the perpetuation of the social security, the scarier it is for our children. We need more economics and geography in our schools--and fewer liberally-programmed soft subjects.

I have little patience for Barone. He, along with Ben Wattenberg and others, sees little difference between the illegals from Mexico and the Italian immigrants at the turn of the century. Forgetting that perhaps 40% of the Italian immigrants eventually returned to Italy, he ignore completely that the US shares a COMMON BORDER with Mexico, that these illegal immigrants have no incentive to assimilate and that these illegals, unlike all other earlier generations of immigrants, are not sucking away billions of dollars in welfare and healthcare.

68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub:

I have no problem with you not liking Rush, but let's not get carried away with it. To suggest that Rush is trying to help Kerry is silly.

O'Reilly is a totally different bird. Unlike Rush, he is not always consistent.

Isn't a major part of the problem our inability to figure out just who is legal and who's illegal? What I can't figure out is why we have to (a) cater to someone's unwillingness to learn English [after all, what European country would bend over backward for English-speaking immigrants?], and; (b) why do we have to support seven-ways-from-Sunday a woman who came over the border to have a "citizen" baby while she herself is not a US citizen? And why do we owe illegal kids an education and healthcare when we can't guarantee a competitive standard of education (and in some cases, healthcare access) for our own citizens' children?

Can you say "White Flight," without being called a racist? An awful lot of those exurban refugees in my conservative enclave county are former Orange County and Bay Area escapees. Trouble is... Liberals are fleeing here too, with an instant NIMBY attitude as they see this as their last refuge in CA.

Now their celebrity "Republican" Governor has thown a Socialistic and ecomomically suffocating "Wet Blanket" over the entire Sierra-Nevada so their children will be forced to commute to a GovernMental job in Sacramento, (unless they want seasonal work as a whitewater rafting guide/busdriver) further clogging US-50 & I-80 with unbearable traffic!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, GANG-GREEN is tying new home and business building in our General Plan to traffic engineer's "Level of Service" ratings through direct democracy ballot box extreme measures and through the courts at the same time!!!
