As far as being greedy goes, the entire Democrat Party position of wealth redistribution is based on greed. How else to explain taking resources from one group and promising them to another in return for votes?

Oh, I agree, the 'Rats are indeed greedy, they want power in exchange for this barter. However, I believe they are taking advantage of seeds planted by Republicans (I like to call them "country club Republicans"), who leave these doors of opportunity for Dem's to sucker working class stiffs open. I've worked for both hardcore R's and moderate D's, and I'll be honest, I'd rather work for the moderate D anyday. The R's I've worked for would work me like a slave, and it was a constant battle to get any kind of money out of them.

I'm not talking about wealth redistribution, I'm talking about The Golden Rule (Do unto others, etc.). A lot of the socialist policies of this century began with FDR, who gained support because of such things as lack of basic safety procedures and unsafe conditions at workplaces (massive fire at a factory in New York, I believe it was, killed many people unnecessarily, FDR rode for all it was worth). And, as bad as unions stink today, I do believe we'd be working 7 days a week if they hadn't been around. The Repub's I'm referring to (not all by any means) will hold your need to make a living over your head, and take excessive advantage of it. This is not consistent with Christianity (the workman is worth his wage), and the backlash of all of this is what we have today: Communists masquerading as Democrats, greedy pigs masquerading as Republicans. The sad part is, the vast majority of Americans live by the Golden Rule, and suffer from the lousy policies of both. Illegal immigration is an example of both sides supporting the same evil for different reasons. It doesn't matter why, it's still evil, and the country is going to suffer terribly from it one day.

Well, I think my friends are probably pretty equally divided between Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals. I haven't noticed that the Republicans were tougher on their employees. The ones that belong to country clubs seem as likely to be Dems as Republicans, but the Republican country club members whom I know are very good to their employees.

I don't belong to a country club, but don't see such a membership in one as a reason for looking down on someone.

It's true that the Republican Party is labeled by the Left the party of the rich, but to me that is a false label and always has been. Not that I see a problem with acknowledging that rich folks are also entitled to freedom and liberty. IMO, progressive taxation is as harmful to the poor as it is to the wealthy, perhaps more so.
