Isn't a major part of the problem our inability to figure out just who is legal and who's illegal? What I can't figure out is why we have to (a) cater to someone's unwillingness to learn English [after all, what European country would bend over backward for English-speaking immigrants?], and; (b) why do we have to support seven-ways-from-Sunday a woman who came over the border to have a "citizen" baby while she herself is not a US citizen? And why do we owe illegal kids an education and healthcare when we can't guarantee a competitive standard of education (and in some cases, healthcare access) for our own citizens' children?
(i) The practice of government and business going bi-lingual is truly insane, but the multi-culurists have been at this for decades, so it shouldn't shock anyone, (ii) there are federal laws and Supreme Court decisions that require healthcare and education to all people, whether legal or illegal, so there's little individual states can do about it.
As an aside there's nothing in statute or the constitution that grants someone born here automatic citizenship.
Unlike most countries in Europe, which we mistakenly think is going Arabic, the US's interpretation of citizenship is not an ethnic or blood concept.
