Rasmussen is spread over several days and tracks change slowly. I expect they'll come to the same place as the recent WashPost and Pew polls, by the end of the week. A moderate bump, a slight tightening...still bush by a few.

Yes, but there are times, like in August, where Kerry camp and the media ignored the Swift Boat ads and wound up getting killed by them.

I submit that this is different. The issue now, today, is that bush had a bad night at a single debate. Nobody will remember that 2 weeks from now, as long as he performs reasonably well in the next two debates. The issue with the swiftvets was that kerry is a lying opportunist who distorted his own achievements and sold our troops down the river. That's not the same as a person having one bad night on TV--it's fundamentally different.

You have been negative all along. You are a knee jerk reaction guy who does not see the fundamentals.

There have been seven polls that came out since last Thursday debate. Three has shown a tie between President Bush and the flip floper and four has shown President Bush ahead including the PEW and ABCNEWS/Washington Post that show the President in 5 points or more lead.

In all these polls including the ones that show a tie, President Bush beat the flip floper by a double digit on the war on terror, on Iraq, and who is a better leader. Also the President has a big lead on who is more decisive who is more likeable and who is more honest and trustworthy. Therefore the fundamental of the race did not change. The flip floper goal in the Thursday debate was to change the perception of the majority of voters about him, which that he is a flip floper who cannot be trusted and whi is not fit to be President in time of war. The flip floper failed miserably in changing anyone opinion except that he had energized the delusional “Michael Moore” crowd of the Democratic party who were going to vote for Satan if he was running against President Bush.

Stop you negativity and get real.

Quit your whining. I posted to you so that you would see that it not just me who is furious with the debate prep team, but the Pres himself is as well. I see much clearly than most people on this board and I have experience, on campaigns, in swing states, for major players. In fact, many of my predictions are right on the money. All I do is point out where the deficiencies have been in the campaign, because all told, Bush should be running away with it right now hands down against a guy who has openly said he will raise taxes and supports other than traditional marraige.

Rah! Rah!

Exactly
Bush ain't even doing as good in the polls as he did in 2000 and look what happened then

Let's just hope that the black vote stays home to some extent and that the electoral college pans out OK
But I ain't optimistic at all

If it wasn't for the Swifties I just wonder where we would be

I think Kerry had an extraordinarily good polling day on Monday. It was likely due to the cumulative effect of an entire weekend of media Bush bashing over his debate performance. I think Bush will be back leading once Monday rolls off the Rasmussen three day poll.

I think the same thing. Think about that August where the Swift Boat Vets started running ads for weeks after the dem convention. Kerry and the MSM ignored them for 3 weeks before it was apparent that the SBV ads were driving his numbers down. Kerry even openly said he thought the media would ignore it, just like they do in Boston when he used to run. By the time the GOP convention came rolling around, the SBV ads had driven Kerry's numbers down to even the race.

Could be
But just shows how shallow American voters are

At this point opinions shouldn't be based on some stupid thing like a college format debate

Gosh, a negative attitude coming from you? Who could have predicted such a thing?

Yes, the President has a lead in national polls and even more importantly in the electoral race, yet all you can manage is "not good."

Bush may/should win. However, the really bad reality is...

the fact that it is this close bodes very very bad for the future. Common sense requires that Bush should be blowing this thing away. It should not be close.

The mentality and perception of our culture is in a dangerous state. This ignorant/careless a voting population makes the future a certain danger.

Don't talk to me about negative attitude. I saw your posts right after Dubya's debate last weekend and you sounded like you were on death watch.

I initially did not think he did that bad. But after the post-debate spin came out, the democrats got a little bump, and this Rasmussen poll is tracking it. This bumps and enthusiasm should have never happened. For the first time in 6 weeks Dubya is not ahead in every national single poll. I am however pleased that Bush is displeased with his debate prep team and wants changes. That is good. I was also surprised that the GOP reponse to the bad debate was swift in that people were out in the press mitigating the damage.

Cheney's beat down on Edwards this week was a big boost as well.

Oh really? I'd love to see some examples of this. LOL

You have been whining and complaining ad nauseam for months. I wish you put half the effort into getting the man re-elected as you do in emphasizing the negative.

I rememebr a post to where you said your first impression of Dubya's performance is that it was awful, and you were relieved that instant polls said that voters would not change their vote.

In fact I did put in yeoman's work in 2000 to get the man elected. And you know I worked for him whenever he came out to the midwest. However, I have other priorities at the moment. I shudder to think where he would be without the running start the Swift Boat Vets gave him.

You might think me negative, but I just offering criticisms because I refuse to be a non-thinking, reactionary cheeleader for medicrity. I have been dissatified with the way the campaign has been run until about August. If you look at my posts, I have been quite complimentary of the campaign for the last 2 months. After Kerry's "no bounce" convention I knew Kerry was in trouble.

Like I said, I'd love to see you produce that quote. My impressions of the debate, then and now, are that Bush handily beat Kerry on substance but definitely lost the style points. I didn't see the debate mattering much either way, and I still don't.

You know, I did not, and still do not, think that the debates will matter that much. People know what they are getting by now. I hated to see Dubya give the other side another breather when he should have put them away.

I'll see if I can find that quote for you.

Have a good idea where to watch election night results in this town?
