Just wanted to introduce myself, I stumbled on this place quite by accident and am quite pleased that I did. I was a Democrat all my life, and voted as such since the time I was 18. I wasnt really into politics, I just voted Democrat all the way down the line because my mom always said "The Democrats are for the poor people, and the Republicans are for the rich, and thats what my mother told me" I voted for Clinton TWICE!! (This is where I am hanging my head) 9-11 was a real wake up call for me. I started getting a real interest in what was going on around me. I stumbled on to Rush Limbaugh on day on my way home, I started questioning exactly what side I was on. I liked and agreed with what Rush had to say. I didnt know what the differances were really. I am so proud to say that I have figured out that I am a Conservative Republican. My mother and I still go round and round now that she see's I have gone over to the other side. I recently also discovered Sean Hannity, whom I just LOVE. I only watch Fox News now because it IS fair and balanced. What a wonderfull time to be alive, I never thought I would see such a political race that has gone the way it has. I am REALLY excited to finally see the "silent" majority waking up finally and speaking their minds and dusting off their boxing gloves. Any way, glad to meet you all and look forward to discussions!
I've been here for a year, It's my aniversary.
Anyway, I just discovered the spell check button last week.
Welcome into the light.
You've been HEALED!
And obviously Hannitized!
WTG and welcome!
Welcome Cindy.
You'll find that we aren't the gun toting bigotted homophobic religious fanatics that the far left would have you believe.
Although, I do have a shotgun under my bed, a gay son I love, and I am a buddhist leader in my town.
I have my priorities, and islamofacist/terrorism is it. Not so worried about my son's potential marriage plans as I am about him having a long and happy life.
Cheers...
Treason was good too. I had some great dialogues with people who were uniformed about the McCarthy era. I think McCarthy is a hero and won't stand for people to denigrate his name in my presence now.
I'm kind of old school. Spell check is for sissies. Everyone screws up, and the ability to screw up in front of the whole world, straighten it out, and get on with it is a valuable enough skill to be worth practicing once in a while. IMHO.
And Happy Anniversary!
"LoL......of what?"
Samples of Beebers and cheese.
Thank you .
Who's the picture of? I don't recognize it.
I wasn't commenting as much on the spell check being necessary as much as my lack of observation.
Your story is similar to most of the people in my family (aunts , uncles ,nieces, nephews, cousins) . Before 9/11 they were all Democrats. They voted for Clinton exc.. I never talked politics with them.
We had a family gathering this past July, and from the way they were talking, I thought I was listening to a bunch of Freepers.
They were joking about Kerry and quoting Rush Limbaugh and Sean. They all watch Fox News too. What a turn around. I'm glad to see people are waking up.
You will enjoy Free Republic. It's a great site. Don't let the spelling and grammar police here intimidate you. Enjoy.
Christopher Hitchens
I welcome you.....until I don't welcome you.
- John Heinz L'Kerry
Worth repeating.

Please excuse my obvious ignorance...who exactly is Christopher Hitchens?
Welcome! I can sympathize with your disgust with your former political party. As much as I've always loved sparring with Dems I used to delude myself that they would be just as patriotic as I was if the U.S. faced animalistic foes like the Muslim terrorist threat we face now. Boy was I ever wrong but I didn't realize it until after 9-11! They love twisting logic whatever way they can to justify every Muslim atrocity. I'm sure some Dems out there have probably even found a way to blame the Chechyn student massacre on the U.S. I think maybe "Zell's" would be a good term for decent former Democrats like you who've been disillusioned by the Dems' fondness for "Everyone who hates America, right or wrong!"
