You're doing a great job because it's working great right now.

DH and I were sitting there HOPING Cheney would not rise to the whole difficult gay marriage / amendment situation, and Edwards was droning on as smarmy as could be, "Ah'm sure the Cheneys LOVE their daughter" -- You just want to smack him. Of course, Cheney acted with class, but what I wanted him to say was..."Well, John, if you showed up in Senate chambers a little more often, we could have met and THEN I could have shown you the photos in my wallet!"

82% think Edwards won.
We are living in the most stupid, brainless country<<<

...Anyone who saw that split screen tonight would have a hard time liking him. Sadly, only CSPAN's viewers saw it....ABC showed the split screen quite often. Really bad for Kedwards.
Somebody needs to show the boy how to hold a coffee cup.
And what was with Kedwards ripping paper during some of the last Cheney statements???

Tonight's moderator was a hundred times better than Lehrer.

I would think if Cheney was wrong on having met Edwards before, Edwards would have pointed it out during the debate. He seemed to have no trouble going back and answering previous questions. It was the most devasting line of the night. Although Cheney had about 5-6 good ones.

This was a case of the Bug and the Windshield. Cheney was definitely the windshield!

Edwards has some handshake. At what point does a handshake becomes an assault?

Considering when we came into the debate we rightly expected Cheney to be ambushed by the partisan press, I think Gwen did a more than fair job. She asked Edwards tough questions Kerry NEVER got from Lehrer and was equally hard on Cheney. If the other moderators perform as Gwen did tonight, I won't have complaints.
To: shoedog
I was pleasantly surpised. I think she did a good job as well. Then again, if they come across as biased, they know they will get their heads handed to them within a couple of days.

"If Edwards picked up that stupid mug of water one more time I was going scream. At one point I thought he was going to make love to it."
That bugged me too, also did anyone count how many times Edwards said "in reality", glad I didn't play the drinking game on that one!

I believe that was a nervous energy and he probably had no idea he was doing it.

Please explain the "Senator Gone" thing.I wish I could do it justice, but here goes: Cheney HAMMERED Edwards on his poor senate attendance record, rattled off percentages of times of absence, said that the people of his state refer to Edwards as "Senator Gone," and finished up with, "As vice president I preside over the senate and I'm there on most Tuesdays. (Pause.) Tonight when you walked onto the stage is the first time I've ever met you."
Zing! Zowie!

Want the honest Democrat spin? Pat Caddell is coming up soon on Hannity & Combs. He'll tell it pretty straight. Liz Cheney on now.

Just heard that the Gov accounting office has said that the ONLY company able to do the contract that Edwards was referring to in the debate was Haliburton! Brian Williams on MSNBC has been really good on getting the "real" facts out; I just heard him say that it wasn't a "no bid" -- it was a "nobody else can bid" because nobody else can do the job Halliburton does and that the job required.
