Chrissy looked in pain when I was flipping channels right after the debate ended

I turned to MSNBC and was like "who's the old man? OH IT'S BROKAW!!" It has been SO long since I watched the news on the alphabet soup channels I almost didn't recognize him!

"And I'd still like to know how Edwards pulled out a Cleveland statistic out of nowhere"
My thought at the time was:"Is he making this up as he goes along?"
Is that the question Cheney comment he "hadn't heard that statistic"?.....(wink wink)

I had to love it!! Mr. Cheney went agressive with my talking point!! lol
I know I can't take any credit for it, but still... I wrote Bush/Cheney & gave them a piece of my mind. Our largest allies in the war in Iraq are the Iraqi's & the Republicans were missing out by not reminding people of it!

listened on the radio via Savages' program. He laughed out loud SO hard when Cheney said the line about only just meeting Edwards for the first time tonite. Got a kick out of the laugh and the line...Savage wasn't the only one dying of laughter at that moment. :-)

Great job by the VP. This is what we had hoped to see from Bush last week, and WILL see from him on Friday. Cheney just devastated Edwards on 4-5 occasions. The "I never met you until tonight" will go down in debate lore as one of the great one liners. You could see after that comment, that Edwards just completely lost it. He never got back on track after that. I don't think Cheney did as good in the 2nd half, but he held his own. THought he passed on a couple of opportunities to hit Kerry/Edwards on some of the "soft personality" type questions. But guess he wasn't wanting to come off mean.
Edwards was always talking about a future topic, a previous topic, or so other topic. He hardly ever discussed the current question. And when he did, there were no specifics. I do think he landed some points on some of the Bush policy over the last few years. But again, he never did tell us "their plan". The only part I thought Edwards did well in was the area of tort reform. I thought he did at least give a concrete plan to curb his own profession. Other than that, he was just parroting 7-8 lines that Kerry did on Thursday. No new or unique thought. He came off very lightweight tonight.
Will be interesting to see how all of this is spun. But in my humble opinion, Cheney won on style, substance, AND delivery.

Lurch is not a happy man right now.Couldn't agree more. Can't understand some statements about being worried on either of these threads. I thought Cheney did very well.
To: hershey
Uh, Mary Beth Cahill....watching Mary Matlin now. She's laughing fit to beat the band, pleased as punch...she worked in Cheney's office and has a special bond with him. Mary knows whose ass got kicked to Canada and back and it wasn't Cheney's.

Cheney did a low-level piñata job on Edwards.
To: eeriegeno
"Cheney missed many opportunities to respond to the primary charges the Kerry/ Edwards campaign is leveling againsgt the Administration- esp. the "no plan to win the peace" charge."
Cheney laid out the plan rather succinctly. Get an election in place and watch the legitimacy of the "insurgents" crumble as happened in El Salvador. That has always been the plan, to bring some decent self-governance to Iraq. The Economist laid the whole case out this week how elections are the means to transforming the situation on the ground.

Funny you should mention zinging! Every time Cheney wacked Edwards I called "Zing!"... Obviously Great Minds ZING alike (.... pause for bad pun groans.....);-)

Kudos to Gwen Ifill for a job well done.Agreed. She asked tough but fair questions of both candidates. Lehrer was a shill for the Dems.
