An unknown suspect fired several shots into the Bearden office of the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign Tuesday morning.

The headquarters are located at 4618 Kingston Pike, next to Noveau Classics and in the same shopping plaza as Long's Drugstore.

According to Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officers on the scene Tuesday, it is believed that the two separate shots were fired from a car sometime between 6:30 am and 7:15 am.

One shot shattered the glass in the front door and the other cracked the glass in another of the front doors.

There were no witnesses to the shooting. A customer at a nearby dry cleaning store noticed shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of the headquarters and called police.

Volunteers and staffers at the campaign office say they have no clues as to who might have committed the crime. However, they add that the shooting makes them even more enthusiastic and energized about working for their candidates.

"If I have to sleep here (at the campaign office) now, that's what I'll do," says volunteer Suzanne Dewar.

In an unexpected twist, a bank directly across the street from the headquarters was robbed just as KPD officers were busy investigating at the scene of the shooting.

Re. #32:

"I didn't know Dems could operate firearms."

Oh, don't be so sure.

If needed, I have no doubt that expertise from Cuba or North Korea could be imported to train them.

Didn't Klinton arrange the import of Chinese select-fire AK-47s into California, which ended up in the hands of a drug Gang out there some years ago during his reign?

So it seems that the Dems not only know how to import talent, but hardware as well.

They'll call us paranoid if we say this out loud - but I have long felt that when the socialists get sufficiently desperate, their tactical options will not go unconsidered.

Why do you think they have been so strident in their attempts to disarm the American "little people"?

If the intended subjects of repression are armed, then the tactical option remains somewhat risky. And tyrannical thugs usually don't deal with risk to themselves all that well.

Of course, as we see in Iraq and Israel; it's not too hard for the thugs to whip the usefull idiots into a sufficient frenzy so that they are not terribly disuaded by even mortal risk.

As much as any Civilized person loathes to see such contests degenerate to tactical confrontations, and would never initiate the exsersize of tactical options in order to prevail politically, we need to be ready and vigilant against the possibility that someone else very well may resort to those dreaded options.

History warns us of the ever present imminence of the wicked, desperate and deluded among us resorting to arms in order to impose their will on others, as well as the fate of those unprepared for the onslaught.

And although such history is seldom taught to our Young any more (there is a reason for that, as most of us know), History never lies. (But alas; people do lie about History).

Just a personal hunch; but should the President win by a close margin again, I would not put it past the Dems to seriously consider the "John Wilkes Booth" option...

Again.

Republican activists would be well advised, I opine, to cherish and practice Peace, yet not be too far removed (discretely of course) from the means of tactical defense.

As much as we may hope and pray that it never be needed...
It seems that we are being warned.

BTW; How many FReepers (DU trolls not included in this survey) would be surprised if, in the unlikely event that it was revealed, that AlQuida and DNC Operatives had one another's unlisted phone numbers somewhere?

I, for one, would not be in the least.

You?

"If someone tries to get my Bush/Cheney yard sign, they will get hit with a base ball bat on the back of their little hatefilled hands."

You do that... and start looking for a vacant bunk down at the Homeless Shelter.

After the Lawyers get done with you, you (and your Family) are likely gonna need it.

I'm glad you are appreciating the decline and fall of Western Civ and the USA, but we've been discussing it for years.

RE #114:

"Election day could get ugly - please be prepared."

I would not expect much of a problem in urban areas that are in the Dems pockets, or small polling places.

If your District has a history of high Republican turnout and a significant population, though, it could be a target area.

And I would look for trouble early on, so that the reports will have plenty of time to get around and discourage other voters Nationwide from showing up at the polling places.

Again, (you might be getting tired of my rant on this subject) - but if the US Military trusts the US Post Office to deliver the Troop's absentee ballots, then I would expect at least 50% of them to be "lost", delayed until the election deadline in whatever State it is addressed to has passed, or otherwise disqualified as many were in the Florida debacle.

According to some of the callers on the talk radio shows who have Loved Ones over in Iraq, many of the Troops there and in Afghanistan are wondering if they should even bother to attempt to vote via absentee ballot, as they are resigned to the assumption that it is very unlikely to be counted, even in the unanticipated event that it does reach it's destination on time, in one piece, and unfutzed with.

I suspect that the PO was just as politically active on behalf of the DNC in other states too, but we never found out about it as the vote was not nearly as close and IIRC there was only one other State that had a re-count.

Before the 2K Elections, I was ranting here (look it up if you like) that the Military should hold it's own elections on a Brigade or Division level, and bring the results via Military Courier to a central US clearing house - possibly at the Unit's Home Base - under ARMED military escort, never TOUCHING a USPS facility or employee's hands anywhere along the way.

But I really don't expect our POTUS to have the nads to even attempt that, sad to say.
If any of the Commanders in the Field try to pull it on their own initiative, no doubt there would be hell to pay, and their careers would be over. The very powerful Postal Union and DNC would see to that!
How DARE they try to prevent them from stealing this election??!!

Unless, of course, the Military has had enough of this systematic election stealing, which blatently threatens the security of America as well as the surviving Free World, and takes matters into their own hands.

That could get really interesting.

We are pretty sure (although we can probably never prove it, and the Feds would probably never prosecute it even if we could) that the Portland ME Post Office stole the ME State Senate a couple of years ago for the Dems (BRENNAN Vs. VamVAKIAS - Special Election), and Dems still maintain the majority in both Houses, as well as the Governorship.

Let's see... WHO controls the Postal Employees Union again???

As far as I'm concerned, if you are not registered as a Dem and put your return name and address (which can easily be matched to available Voter Registration Lists)on your absentee ballot, then you might just as well drop it directly into the dumpster as into the mail box.

Are any Federal Election Officials ever going to peek under the Postal Svc.s skirt in this or any Election cycle?

Not holding my breath here, Mates.

You?

These are the ones who hate Bush, typically of militia or white supremecist pedigree, and who generally subscribe to the whole "9-11 was a set up" and "we have no business being in the Middle East" etc.

Well, I'm afraid I do subscribe increasingly to the 9/11 setup theory (thanks Alex Jones) and believe that now that we have Saddam we should get out of you know where. Sorry...

Re #174:

"Am I the only kook that senses another civil war in the US?"

'Frayed Knot, Mate.

A lot of the same dynamics that led to the catistrophic confrontation of 1861 - 65 in which over 660,000 Americans died (with a much lower National population than we have today) and grudges still smoulder after 145 years, are reconstituting themselves in our time.

Only then it was over Slavery, and was a North - South thing.

This time it's about Abortion (another form of dehumanization) and more of an Urban - Rural thing. Other than that, the pattern of History is starting to repeat... as they often tend to do.

It pays to study History - for what happened to America in the 1860's should NEVER have to happen again!

When I saw this:

I got so mad I had to drop down in front of my 'puter and knock out 20 pushups before I broke something.

Who is the young boy to the right? He looks like he's ready to mix it up with somebody!

Is the guy with the reversed baseball cap to the left the perp? He has something in his hands, but I can't tell if it's pieces of a sign.
He does have sort of a malicious smirk on his puss, dosn't he?

I would not have ventured alone into this sort of crowd - especially with a child.
Not to justify in the least what happened of course - but we should know by now what to expect from these thugs.

And it seems that Ol' George could afford his own Army, Air Force, and Navy if he wanted 'em.

Do you find that a little disconcerting?

RE 313;

"...in Florida, they even stormed into a Republican office and destroyed property while roughing up some of the volunteers."

As long as the Pubs keep taking this sort of abuse, the Left will keep dishing it out - in increasingly genereous portions.

But if any one DOES offer effective resistance to these commie thug attacks, don't expect much sympathy from the Law or the Judicial system.

Chances are some ACLU Lawyer will own their house before it's all over.

We might want to start taking up a victim defense fund already, in anticipation of it.
Do we have a database of FR/GOP friendly Lawyers for each State ready to roll?

What do you think?

I believe that when it all got sorted out, that it was discovered that he is the little girl's brother, who was upset with the guy who tore up the sign.

Is the guy with the reversed baseball cap to the left the perp? He has something in his hands, but I can't tell if it's pieces of a sign.

Yes, that is the creep. And that is part of the sign in his hands.

This little girl's sister (??) signed up to FR when someone told her about this story being posted her on FR. So did another member of the family - perhaps the father ?? I'm not sure. And I can't remember their screen names. :^(

No, I was born 37 years ago.
I'm just pointing out there's no proof of that. No "Fuck Bush" spraypainted on the wall or anything.

It's like those laptops that were stolen. A campaign worker at the office fell all over himself to make a case that it was politically motivated. The story on the air finnished by quoting a cop saying there's no evidence of that.
Makes the campaign guy sound paranoid.
Laptops = $$$. My company had a couple stolen in a daring daytime entry by a guy in a suit with a briefcase. We're an agricultural company. Does he hate grain and crop inputs?

I never thought of it. Despite what I think of them politically, I still would be surprised by this development, at least a little bit.

"Do we have a database of FR/GOP friendly Lawyers for each State ready to roll? "

- I'm sure Rove's people at national HQ would be able to supply such a list of names.
However, I see the real benefit is not so much from a "victim defense fund" point of view, but rather from a "victim compensation fund". If only a relatively few number of people (such as ourselves and other freepers) could be persuaded to contribute even a modest amount to a "fund" to reimburse campaign workers for possible injury or pain and suffering inflicted on them by Democratic goons, the publicity fallout would be worth millions of advertising dollars if you had to buy it. Can you imagine if a press bulletin were to be issued to all news organizations which pointed to the numerous vandalism's, shoot ups and physical assaults that have taken place against Republican volunteers and their offices and, in response to concerns for the workers personal safety, a fund is being set up to help them pay for any medical or other costs that they incur as a result. The press release could name a contact where contributions could be sent and any unused funds would be donated to a charity after the election was over.
Such a press release would be bound to garner widespread media coverage and paint Kerry's people as violent extremists. It would be a PR coup and might even serve to stop the attacks.

McCarthy was right all along, and now we're finally starting to see examples of the true price we will pay for our lack of vigilance.

God help us if we lose this election, or the next for that matter.

No you are not a kook & you are not the only person that fears that a second civil war is building .

Only this time it won't be with mass armies marching in ranks & files into battle it will be the war of the small pistol & the dagger.

It will be very much a fight between those political activists of the RAT party and the ordinary folks who just want to be left alone to live & enjoy their lives, who think that the USA is a beacon of hope in the world, who think that you can grow up in this country to do or be anything you want to be with hard work, good study habits, brains & ambition.

Also know this when it happens it will be very very ugly & savagely vicious . Make your preparations accordingly.
