CLEVELAND - Republicans have been trying to suppress voting in states where the presidential race is too close to call, Democratic nominee John Kerry (news - web sites) said Sunday at one of the city's largest predominantly black churches.
"In battleground states across the country, we're hearing stories of how people are trying to make it harder to file for additional time, or how they're making it harder to even register," Kerry told an enthusiastic congregation at East Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
"We're not going to let that happen because the memories of 2000 are too strong. We're not going to allow 1 million African Americans to be disenfranchised."
At a stop in Ohio earlier Sunday, Kerry told a voter concerned about ballots cast by military personnel overseas that Democrats are aware of voting problems and are concerned.
"We're seeing efforts by the Republicans, unfortunately, in various parts of the country to suppress votes and intimidate people, to do things that bring back memories that are pretty bitter in the American mind from the year 2000."
With just a month left in the presidential campaign, Kerry said the campaign would take steps nationally to ensure voters access to the ballot box.
Allan Murray of CNBC reported 4 Counties in Ohio reporting higher number of Vote Registration than the 2003 survey showed for the voting age adults. Another poster posted that Indianapolis is reporting 75% increase in registration. They are all SET to steal the election. Even if W regains his lead and has 5% lead like last time going into the election day, he would not be able to stop the fraud this time around. Sad but true.
We don't think dumb-asses should vote (or illegals...or the dead). The disloyal opposition objects because that is their base. ;)
GOP should post a picture of Jesse Jackson and Kerry together. Should be a winner for the GOP.
Wow this is new especially since a lot of places are seeing massive increases in new voter registrations--one town had 75,000 more than they had people-and almost all of the new registrations were democrats---whos trying to manipulate the vote??Anyone think voter fruad is happining or is it just me??
I thought it was illegal to talk politics in churches!
Republicans won in 2000, 2002 and we'll have another huge win in 2004!! I'm not even looking back to how the Republicans won in the '90's. What's changed...nothing!!!
Get ready folks. The democommies always accuse others of what they are doing or have done.
Why isn't Bush talking about the illegal voter registration?
John, surely if you are making this claim, you have some proof. Lets see the evidence. . .lets have the names.
::::crickets::::
Parts of OHIO...there are more people registered to vote than the censuse says there are voting age people in those area.
Rush is talking about it.
He is also talking about how ACORN was out trying to register people 3 and 4 times for voting....tried to register felons.....and told republicans that they would register them, took their register cards....and threw those cards in the trash.
ACORN is a liberal/democrat group.
That's crazy. I've never heard of filing for a vote registration extension. If someone can find the time to file such an extension, why couldn't they just register?
or how they're making it harder to even register
He must be talking about identification requirements. Or citizenship requirements.
IAE, note he didn't charge that any laws have been broken by registrars.

Geez, it would be great if it were true.
Kerry get-out-the-vote campaign:
"BRING OUT YER DEAD!"
I wondered what that meant, too.
This from the man who has fought state to state to keep Nader off the ticket.
Must be one of those nuance things.
Democrats and Kerry should be ashamed of themselves for bringing this up, unless it is going to be their excuse to try to slam Bush when he wins again.
We should accuse him of vast voter fraud then he likes that word..
